When did your appetite suppression start?

I’ve just had my first Mounjaro injection this afternoon, and ate a disappointingly large dinner. I know I’m probably expecting too much, but when did everyone else start to feel less like eating?

Within a few hours. Maybe 3?

CoverMeInMarmalade · 11/11/2024 20:08

According to the app Shotsy, it takes 24 hours for the drug to hit peak levels in your system, after injection.

For me, I injected around dinner time and felt the affect from the following morning.

HansHolbein · 11/11/2024 20:12

Usually within 24hrs.

Mumof1andacat · 11/11/2024 20:13

My husband is on 5mg having started on 2.5mg and hasn't felt any suppression yet.

whateveryousay · 11/11/2024 20:19

Thank you….hoping it will start to have an effect tomorrow!

About 30 hours for me.
Few people get any effect from 2.5 the next day and even less get any effect within a few hours of taking the jab.
I would say it was really rare to get an effect within a few hours of taking the jab.

ChaosDream · 11/11/2024 21:00

@Mumof1andacat I've just gone up to 5mg too and not feeling anything! 2.5mg worked well and I was bracing myself for side effects and no appetite but it's like I've gone back the way and have been fairly hungry today

roastedrapidly · 11/11/2024 21:37

About 24 hours

LauderSyme · 11/11/2024 21:56

I didn't change much about my diet for the first few days but after that the appetite suppression and aversion to sweet stuffs really kicked in.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 11/11/2024 22:29

I injected Wednesday 9pm and suppression didn't start until Saturday but I was exercising on a yoga retreat so burning more calories and hungry.

TheChosenTwo · 11/11/2024 22:32

I did my first injection on a Saturday and ate a much smaller lunch on the Sunday, felt full suppression from the Monday afternoon I think, literally wouldn’t have when a thing if not for dh cooking and serving up.
I’m on week 3 of 2.5mg now and feeling suppressed enough to have a very sensible lunch and a small dinner and no snacks inbetween.

Grepes · 11/11/2024 22:33

Nearly 4m now and still hungry all the time!! And I only want crappy carbs, sugar, and my alcohol tolerance has gone up. It’s been so expensive and I’ve lost 2kg in that time. I’m about to give up, I’ve switched up each time I’m allowed.

AgathaMystery · 11/11/2024 22:33

About 3 hours.

The therapeutic dose is 7.5mg, so it may be 12-15 weeks before you have true suppression. This is normal, it’s a long journey. Good luck.

HippoPortlyMouse · 11/11/2024 22:35

I inject in the morning and by the evening usually don't fancy much in the way of dinner. I don't notice much at all on my first couple of jabs though, it took a while for it to build up.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 12/11/2024 07:53

@AgathaMysterythe therapeutic doses are 5, 10 and 15.

I stand corrected!

6.5 weeks in and still waiting for it...

I was exactly the same on 5. Wished that I'd stayed on 2.5 far longer.

Anonymousess · 13/11/2024 00:58

I felt the suppression immediately but it took me a few weeks to understand what that meant. My first day, I had a grocery order arrive, and I helped myself to all the snacks. My body didn’t agree with that! So although my appetite was suppressed I still pushed my limits on occasion until I learned what a safe portion/diet was.

Sorry , you sound super disappointed and fed up. 2kg still is a loss.
You still need to make choices. Sugar goes looking for sugar so try to knock that on the head and go for protein and vegetables. Out of interest have you had your blood sugar checked?

Thanks, yes my blood sugar is normal, at the lower end, but fine. I’ve actually put on weight this time so a little disappointing! Might give it a break for a bit and go back to eating more healthily and exercise (I’ve been feeling sluggish so haven’t really done anything at all).

Good luck! Exercise will make you feel more positive.

ShaunaSadeki · 13/11/2024 19:33

2 days after my first jab

whateveryousay · 13/11/2024 19:38

I’m now 48hrs post first jab, I’m still getting hungry, but feel full very quickly, so eating much smaller portions.
Still need to get a grip of eating healthy food instead of sugary treats…. Hoping that will come. Still early days!!
Definitely eating far fewer calories already though 😃
