Flying with maunjaro pen

Has anyone flown with maunjaro in hand luggage? Long story short is we are going away for 2 weeks at Christmas so I would want to take 2 doses while away but will only have hand luggage on the plane.
Can I bring it? If so what do I need?

Yes I have taken it. Well Ozempic but similar obviously! I take it in a clear plastic bag and make sure it’s in the box with my name etc on and just put it in the boxes that go through the X-ray machine. It’s no problem. One security person shouted down to the person on the X-ray machine that an epi pen was coming through so I think they are used to seeing similar items.

I recently flew on Easyjet with a pen-style injection (a biologic drug) and Zapain (codeine 30mgs per tablet) from Gatwick, with both in a carry-on bag.

They were in the original packaging with the pharmacy label on, which included my name; and I also took print-outs of my most recent prescriptions.

I put the meds in their own see-through bag.

I placed it in the tray very visibly at Security, and there was no issue at all, at either end. I got told off for the tissue in my pocket though.

Amazing thank you both.

You can buy chilled insulin pen cases off amazon if you are going somewhere hot, if there is a risk of >30 degrees and want to keep it chilled.

I took mine in a Frio bag from Amazon

And prescribed meds don't count towards your one permitted bag of up-to-100ml liquids, as long as they're labelled/documented in your name as being legally prescribed to you.

Amazing thanks all for the great advice. Do I need an actual printed prescription or is all the information on the printed sticker enough?

I need a Frio bag for January. Thanks for the tip.

I fly every month and all tablets and pen just go in my handbag. No need to get them out or announce them x

Really, you are supposed to remove liquids.

notnorman · 11/11/2024 17:51

No it just stays in my bag.
You don't need to remove liquids now from most uk airports.
But it's not been challenged on return journeys either. So 14 flights so far since I've had the pen.
