I've lost too much

Hi I'm so so depressed about this I just can't seem to win.
I started my weightloss journey in 2022 weighing 110kg I'm 5ft9 for context.
I lost the initial 20kg in about 18 months and then the weight loss came to a halt. All I was doing was less eating more walking.

I started mounjaro at 90kg in April this year.
I'll be honest with eating little amounts and walking so much 20k steps a day I've lost a lot.
It's just caught up with me how bad it is.
And because I'm an apple body shape I just look ridiculous.
I wasn't aware of how much I lost until now.
Size 10 jeans hang off me, my legs ache all the time where they're so skinny.
I'm now 60kg which would be okay if I wasn't so tall and weirdly shaped.

I've just started the gym and protein shakes to try and gain some muscle back. I'm really annoyed I didn't start the gym straight away as I've completely lost all my muscle mass.

There's no question if I'm honest I just wanted to get all this out there.

This thread is a really good example of what NOT to do with Mounjaro.

Patients can use it for maintenance but surely you understand that you’re not maintaining - you have continued to lose weight to the point that your BMI is 19. That isn’t the intention of the manufacturer. You seem to have disordered thoughts about your size and unkind comments from family. That would suggest you would benefit from counselling or therapy, not continuous use of weight loss injections.

As it stands, you’re never going to be happy with what you look like… you have unrealistic expectations of your own figure. Ultimately some people are just naturally are inclined to look a certain way. If you’re naturally an apple shape, no amount of weight gain or weight loss will make you look pear shaped or hourglass unfortunately. Weight loss and gym may give the illusion of a different shape, but it’s not a guarantee and it takes a lot of hard work to change your body composition via gym. Ultimately it it was that easy, there wouldn’t be a lot of people who end up resorting to surgery. So I think you need to be kind to yourself, assess how far you’ve come. There’s no such thing as a perfect figure and I think you need to get used to what you currently look like before trying to adjust your appearance further.

Please speak to your GP. I think they will recommend stopping the injections. I think you possibly need to revisit your eating and work on that. I think the appetite suppression at this stage will do you more harm than good.

Do the team prescribing the injections know your correct weight? I am shocked they are still administering the medicine if they are aware of your BMI.

Seconding the advice to speak to your GP.

In the meantime, there is so much guidance out there for dressing apple body shapes. I have just quickly Googled and found that there is an entire subreddit on the topic! Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Hudson are both natural apples.

Hi just to update the thread I've now stopped mounjaro (last dose 01/11) and I'm looking to continue with healthy realistic meals and lots of protein.
I've done 4 sessions in the gym this week and I'm already feeling mentally and physically stronger.

My doctor told me weight loss jabs that leads to fast weight loss can also lead to bone loss so I think muscle work will have 2 benefits for you - safeguarding bone density as well as getting muscle back on your body.

I wouldn't wait until your confident in the gym, just get in there every time. The faster it's a habit the faster you'll feel at home there.

Thankyou for all your comments.
I thought you could stay on mounjaro for maintenance?
I've never had any trouble getting it and have sent full body photos to my provider from 90kg all the way to 60kg.

No definitely not an eating disorder I eat 2 sometimes 3 meals a day sometimes really small sometimes the same as my partner.
It's my body image I'm struggling with and I just feel like I'll never be at the right weight.
I'd look so much more proportioned with the right bodyshape. I envy people with an hour glass or pear shaped body.

And I always dream of having skinny legs - We always want what we haven't got!

It sounds like there's probably some dysmorphia going on here OP - exacerbated by receiving comments such as those from your mum and grandma. I bet anything if you posted a pic here we'd all think you look great (I'm not suggesting you do that).

How many calories are you hitting per day? It sounds like you need to titrate down to a smaller dose.
