Hi.
I want to start Mounjaro.

My BMI is 36.8

I have tried my fitness pal and low calorie but not getting anywhere.

I'm 49 so peri menopause is in full swing and I'm loosing my mind.

I can't afford it privately so wondered

Has anyone had this prescribed by the GP?
Are GP's not happy about being asked for this?

It's v v v difficult to see a GP where I am so wondered did anyone have any advice?

@valueyourself I'm so delighted for you. 5 Stone wow!

Would you recommend it then?

I've lost 5st 6lb.
I really recommend it.

My BMI was 49.9 when I started. Gulp.

I've obviously got another 5st to lose, but I'll get there.

My BMI is now 35.5.

Thank you all so very much.

I'm going to look at finances again and see can I squeeze it out of my budget.

Maybe the money I save on food would help as ppl said.

@Indulgingmum if it helps, Oushk are doing a Halloween offer and the 2.5mg is £116 at the moment. It's a code you put in on purchase before they go over your consultation. It ends today though. Details attached.

Why has your dose not been altered?

I guess she’d need to go down and 2.5 isn’t therapeutic for diabetes, and of course she can’t go up if she can’t tolerate it, so either she’s one of the small minority who can’t or she is eating foods that with the meds is making her unwell, hopefully the poster comes back to explain.

My GP's been great about it, not prescribing it though. I also spoke to them today about my worry about gallstones and had a chat about that, the dose I'm on, rate of weight lost, whether I had previous history of gallstones etc and signs to look out for. Found them very helpful and understanding- not just one either but in general.
