Morning all.

I am on week 2 day 3 of 2.5mg and have had little in the way of side effects so far.
Yesterday I had a bad stomach which I put down to eating a few pieces of spicy chicken the night before, so I had breakfast and lunch but not dinner as my stomach was painful.

When I went to bed I had a panic attack (which I haven’t had for years) but I recognised it for what it was and was able to breathe and calm myself fairly quickly.
However at 3am I woke to my daughter crying and while I was settling her my heart started racing and I couldn’t breathe.
It took me a good couple of hours to calm down and go back to sleep, and this morning my stomach feels really heavy.

Has anyone else found Mounjaro affects their anxiety?
Has it lasted or being a fleeting thing?
Could it be anything to do with electrolytes?

any advice gratefully received

Yep. I tend to wake up on days 2 and 3 after a jab with panicky symptoms. They ease off once I’m up. Day 2 and 3 are also the days I get most appetite suppression.

I'm surprised you've lost so much on 2.5 as I didn't think that did anything but well done.

The only time I be had panic attacks was when my iron was low, GP said it was common so worth having a blood test if you haven't had one.

Hi there. Thanks for your suggestion. I had a blood test just before I started and everything was normal. May be worth following up again though!

And yes, I was also surprised how sensitive I seem to be to the 2.5. I tried to move up as I felt it wasn’t working as well as before but I literally couldn’t function for 4/7 days on 5mg due to the nausea.
I thought dropping back down and losing at a slower rate would be preferable and bang this happens!

Good to know it’s not just me - although I m sorry because it’s such a horrible feeling.

do you mind me asking what dose you are on? It hasn’t put you off trying to continue?

it’s day 3 for me tomorrow so I m just clinging on for dear life and hoping it will calm down and I can go back to normal!

Hey, as someone who has also experienced panic attacks on it, I've noticed these are worse when moving up a dose. Could it be because the 5mg was building in your system? So even if you then had a week on 2.5 it's still a higher dose than you've had before.

I wonder if this is why? I did two shots of 5mg, then last week was a 2.5 and last Friday was a 2.5, so do you think that increased dose could be a reason why and it still hasn’t stabilised back at 2.5?

i need to get that shotsy app to try to understand what’s going on I think.

Shotsy is great - definitely worth tracking. Anything is possible, but from my own experience I had the worst panic attack my first week on mounjaro (2.5mg) - like full blown out of nowhere, along with palpitations for hours. I then went down to a baby dose of 1.25mg and the anxiety went away (also supplemented magnesium and those glucose tabs for low blood sugar which helped). But when I titrated up to 1.66mg (40 clicks) I felt some mild anxiety return again, which passed after a few weeks. So that's my theory anyway!

Everyone is different, but I've personally found titrating up slowly helpful, so maybe if you decide to increase your dose again it could help your body get used to it taking it slower between 2.5mg to 5mg.

It is strong stuff and bonkers how the side effects vary so much for people. I seem to be sensitive to the gastro effects and am always surprised when people say they’ve had not effects at all!

I wish they’d stop the referral code business. When I started it was all about Voy (and before they restricted where on mn you could post codes) and I definitely feel I got a skewed view of people’s experiences because of the code sharing.

having said that I am glad I’ve tried it and for me as long as I stay on a low dose and nitrate up slowly the benefits outweigh the negatives but people should be aware the full range of possible outcomes and side effects.

Just theorising but could it be something to do with low blood sugar and raised heart rate which your body and subconscious recignise as precursor to a panic attack.
I have seen across the board that some are very sensitive to MJ and titrate slowly up if at all. Rather than eating something sweet which would with the MJ acting make you feel rotten such as tummy ache, I would go for 3 meals a day and walk around after each one.

Hope you're feeling better.
