Anyone else notice they are calmer on Mounjaro?

Only just started on lowest dose. Have felt ( so far ) more on an even keel... calmer. Have googled and it seems like Mounjaro , Ozempic etc may possibly lower our cortisol levels . I have long suspected mine are high...
Anyone else felt similarly? Or is it just me ? And is it only temporary?!

This is really interesting. I do think I’m a bit calmer and more focused, but I suppose there could be other reasons, eg knowing that I’m doing something good for myself.

Dragonflysparkles · 26/10/2024 15:24

I thought it was stabilising blood sugars but that also makes sense.

I don't know if it's the Mounjaro or just the fact that I am losing weight and feel in control of that for the first time. Before I started I was really fed up with my weight and the whole situation, a feeling of hopelessness. I would just try and not think about it and avoid situations where my weight would be a reality and an issue. But I would get stressed all the time about eating and my weight regardless.

Since starting Mounjaro all that stress and hopelessness has completely gone. I'm sleeping better, feel optimistic about getting to my target weight even though I've still got a very long way to go. I feel and am healthier, so that helps as well.

Yes, there is a post /article about Mounjaro today on another thread about how it works on the brain and vagus nerve. It's been life changing for me and has not only helped me lose weight but reduced my adhd symptoms and cut my drinking by about a third.

Mounjaroscarednewbie · 26/10/2024 15:38

@WitchyBits ooh that's really interesting about the Vagus Nerve... Thanks.

Yes, I’m definitely calmer and happier. I have been target driven all of my life. Once a target is completed, another target pops up. I have an internal monologue going full pelt all of the time and, for quite a while now it has been critical and undermining. I can’t knock it completely, as it has helped me make a success of my life, but there has been a cost and I have become so, so tired of it
all.

Now the internal voice is so much quieter and so much kinder. I am rediscovering real joy in my life. And to echo what others have said, the siren call of the wine bottle in the evening has completely vanished. At this stage I’m in a state of amazement that I ever slipped into such a stupid bad habit.

I would choose to take Mounjaro for the rest of my life even if it wasn’t helping me lose weight.

HansHolbein · 26/10/2024 19:01

Absolutely. I’m also spending a lot less money…

Warz · 26/10/2024 19:53

100% yes. I was NOT expecting that. I have ADHD and it's transformative. I'm focused, calm and productive. I have an inner clarity that feels incredible.

I know I don't have to, but I would literally choose the effect on my ADHD symptoms over the weight loss, tbh.

Bellyblueboy · 26/10/2024 20:10

I am calmer. The food noise is quieter but my mind is also calmer. I sleep a lot better, and a lot deeper.

Getting up in the mornings is much easier too.

Mounjaroscarednewbie · 27/10/2024 09:13

It's clearly not just me then. Fascinating stuff.

This Is a good podcast with Dr Mark Hyman for the pluses and minuses of taking GLP-1s and dosing advice. - Ozempic: A Weight Loss Miracle or Metabolic Menace? Although it’s titled Ozempic they are referring to all the GLP-1s including Mounjaro.

Two of the Drs were in support and one vehemently against, but more because we shouldn’t have to take medication to stop us eating and how the food industry should be better controlled, which I totally agree with.
The female Dr was really good and said taking this has resulted in a lot of her patients health markers improving. She also talked about microdosing, as she has her patients on far lower doses than those prescribed.

OverhwelmedMum · 27/10/2024 20:24

Weight loss (almost 10lb in less than 4 weeks), quiet ADHD brain, much calmer, more motivated and hugely reduced joint pain. Am also enjoying my food for the first time in years. Worth every damn penny in my experience so far!

Bebe1992 · 15/12/2024 15:52

Well I came off it in mounjaro and have massively noticed that my mood are lower. I initially thought I was just being crazy but now I think it's genuine. I said to my mum that I think I felt happier when I was on mounjaro. Mood has plummeted since.

Mounjaroscarednewbie · 15/12/2024 17:52

Sorry to hear that @Bebe1992 . That's not good. Can I ask if you came off it gradually by tapering down your dose? Or did you just stop?

Bebe1992 · 16/12/2024 10:09

I just stopped but i only went up to 5mg anyway so it wasn't very high

Oblomov24 · 16/12/2024 11:35

Interesting.

Bibulous · 16/12/2024 13:10

I've felt much happier since I started on MJ. I think it's because I'm not going to bed feeling ill and hating myself for eating too much during the day.

Beentheredonethat0 · 19/12/2024 22:51

Very curious about all these mood reports. Really interesting.
How has the weight loss gone for you all too?
Have just ordered mine, hope it all goes ok.
