Just watched a BBC article about serious side effects. I started last week, bmi of 30 so qualified through medexpress. But I'm actually relatively healthy and could probably lose weight without it if I got my shit together? Am I overreacting?

Yes, you are overreacting.

The warning is to HCP to give patients accurate information and to accurately report any side effects. It also warns them to make sure prescriptions are not fake, and to remind patients to follow the scheduled dosage. This is not aimed at the patients, but at the providers. Nothing has changed in terms of risk. Side effects are normally mild and manageable, if you get any.

You made a decision a couple of weeks ago, on the same information that is available today.

Are you being properly monitored by a GP or hospital? I do worry about the people buying it online and taking it with no medical supervision and deciding on the dosage themselves. The serious side effects are rare and should be picked up if you are monitored properly, but some of them are pretty scary.

I don’t have any side effects. At all.

SilenceInside · 24/10/2024 13:48

@twomanyfrogsinabox The online prescribers are doctors, the dosage schedule is clearly and repeatedly explained. There's no indication that the OP is planning not to stick to the dosage schedule. Once a GP has prescribed a medicine there is no ongoing monitoring to check that the patient is taking the medication correctly either.

The woman in the TV news feature says she thought it was 100% safe and there were no side effects.

Anyone who reads the drug leaflets knows that there is the potential for side effects.

My pens come with two leaflets in every box. There's a lot of info in those leaflets, and I have read it. It quite clearly outlines all the possible side effects. She can't have read the leaflets. The leaflets say not to use the drug until you have read them.

No drug is without the potential for side effects. Even everyday ones such as paracetamol or aspirin.
