I have low thyroid . I used to go to the gym religiously but then I had my 3rd baby. I just can't seem to lose the weight - I didn't even put weight on in preg it's got worse after. Iv rejoined the gym in June and go 4 x a week and I'm mindful what I eat, I'm not a snacker, I eat healthy home cooked meals and I'm active. Yet why has my weight gone up 😭. I actually don't go off weight I go off how clothes fit me, but I didn't expect it to go up. I'm getting so depressed with it because I know it's the thyroid causing it.

My bmi is now 28 , the heaviest iv ever been and I can't believe it. Can I be prescribed mounjaro do anyone know. My cholesterol has gone high because of my thyroid

I should add, I have read the guidance but I'm confused and I will speak to the gp but getting an appt is a mission in itself. Just wanted anyone's experience

@fitnessxo I don't think a GP will be able to help you with advice about a private prescription. The GP won't be able to prescribe any weight loss medication to you.

You'd be better off having a conversation with one of the online private prescribers about whether you qualify on weight related health conditions.

Yes you should it's BMI 27+ of you have co-Morbidities and high cholesterol is one of those

You need to pay for it - it is not an available on the NHS. ( well easily available I think it tier 3 bariatric treatment but I don't really know) I am 99.9% certain you will not qualify for it on the NHS

Ah ok I thought I needed to go via GP (baby brain) I don't mind paying for it. Il have a look, I just feel like it's not going to work with my thyroid issues or work very slowly.

Any of the online pharmacies will be able to tell you if you email them and ask.

Do you have hypothyroidism? This article is good.

As pps have said just log on to one of the online pharmacies. You will have to complete a medical questionnaire and they will tell you whether they are willing to prescribe or not.

@fitnessxo i’d really suggest you get your thyroid checked out properly first…pregnancy and childbirth is notorious for sending thyroid wonky and GP’ s often are only going on TSH and T4, really you need your T3 levels checked as well as lots of people don’t convert T4 to T3 well ….but the NHS can be v. poor at managing thyroid. I see a few people with hypothyroidism on here who are possibly under medicated and I wonder how many of them would lose weight if their GP’s adequately medicated them for their thyroid. Also an auto immune diet works best if you exclude gluten, dairy and soy ( Google auto-immune protocol). Best to get your thyroid optimised first before starting weight loss drugs.
