Starting soon on Mounjaro, some very good losses reported on here, but what is the start weight? If it’s reported 2 stones in 6 months lost, are start weights above 15 stones for example ? Obvs don’t share if too personal x

I'm watching this thread with interest. I've piled on more than 2 stone in a year (and this is from 14 stone at 5ft 6 so not like I was slim to start with!) and it feels a bit hopeless at the moment. Have just filled out the form with Boots - I was uncertain about the weight loss injections but feeling more positive after reading these experiences. It sounds like you've all done so well! Even 1lb a week loss is amazing - a 1lb in the right direction.

That's 1.5 lbs a week average. That's not 'unbearably slow' and it shouldn't be frustrating. More than 2lbs a week is considered crash diet levels of loss and is more likely to lead to metabolic problems.

I think weight loss meant to be faster than that on MJ though.
I mean, look at everyone else's rapid weight loss on this thread alone.
Look at @LoveSandbanks - started same time as me, has lost 3 stone in that time compared to my 2 stone.

I would not agree with that first sentence.

MJ is a tool to support weightloss, not a fat dissolver?

You could eat very little because it is doing its job of suppressing appetite, and yet you could still gain weight because you ate calorie dense foods in lower volume.

For most folks of generally good health, its calories in and calories out. A deficit of 500 calories equals an average of one pound loss a week. MJ could work perfectly in helping you maintain that deficit and you would still (averages in consideration!) lose that amount.

Anyone (again, of generally good health!) consistently and over a longer period of time losing more than that is creating a higher deficit and thats like because their MJ dose is high enough to suppress at that rate. MJ is doing what its supposed to do!

LoveSandbanks · 23/10/2024 15:30

I really haven’t lost 3 stone. 2 1/2 is closer AND my starting weight was exceptionally high for me. I normally sit at around 13 stone but gained a few just before I started.

Everyone's journey is different. One of the things I like about Mounjaro is that the times when the loss is slow, are usually when we throw in the towel and give up. How many of us stick to a diet for a MONTH when we don’t see results. And yet when I kept the faith I’d really lost 5lb in that month.

A weight loss of 2lbs a week requires a calorie deficit of 1000 calories every single day. That’s fine in the short term, but every single day will lead to nutrient deficiencies, your skin will look awful, your hair will fall out!

2 stone is fab, keep the faith, we’ll all get there in the end.

No it's not 'meant to be faster' goodness me. 2lb a week is a safe rate of weight loss. Anything faster than that is not healthy for the body. If you're creating a calorie deficit of above 1000 calories a day regularly then you run the risk of malnutrition! Why do you think you should be losing weight at an unhealthy rate and that would be a good thing?

NewoIkkin · 23/10/2024 17:38

53.9lbs lost in 17 weeks here.

Starting weight of 16st 11 and a BMI of 41.6 so plenty left still to lose!

Most people seem to be around the 1 kilo/week like you (you a bit less, others a bit more) - which if you do the sums for calories is a realistic amount.

Mounjaro isn't helping you burn more, it's helping you be able to stick to a diet properly and eat less - which is certainly the case for me, I'm much less 'snacky'

itwasnevermine · 23/10/2024 17:52

@RamonasHouse there is no "supposed to be" when it comes to Mounjaro, everyone is different.

1-2 pounds a week is a good, steady weight loss. Did you start taking Mounjaro to help with cravings, staying fuller for longer etc., or to drop weight fast?

To drop weight.

I started in April , I lost 7lb in the first week and after that have lost 1.5 - 2 lb a week. It all adds up .
after 6.5 months I have gone from 15 10 to 12 4 (3.5 stone) . I don’t class that as being a slow user. To me it is a sensible rate to avoid rubbish side effects and saggy skin.
I stayed on 2.5 for the first 12 weeks as I was happy with the steady loss. Could also keep the cost down.

LionAndEmperor13 · 27/10/2024 09:20

I lost pretty quickly at first - 6lbs in week 1, then it really slowed down.
I've had a couple of weeks where I've not lost anything, and a couple of weigh-ins where I've gained a pound or even two, but it's all evened out in the end and in total I've lost 41lbs since 27th June.
(An average of 2.4lbs a week for 17 weeks.)

WeGoSlow · 27/10/2024 09:32

I've lost 130lbs in 19 months, which roughly equates to 1.5lbs a week. After the first couple of weeks I've not had the big losses that some people report and I've had a few plateaus along the way.

Bellyblueboy · 27/10/2024 11:46

I’m on week five and just hit 14lbs weight loss. Starting weight 12st 5

Is this how much you wanted to lose ? Is it the end as in you’ve reached target? Well done as well

I lost 2 stone in 3 months. Starting weight 12st 7. So it wasn’t really any more than 2lbs week but it worked.

eeeeeeeee · 28/10/2024 20:51

So I’m possibly a bit of an outlier here as I’m really short.

I was obese at my starting weight of 74kg on 1st August (BMI 32 or 33, can’t remember!)

I am now BMI 26 at 61kg. I reached this weight on 13th October and have maintained since. So in 2.5 months I lost 13kg.

I can’t remember exact figures but it’s been something like 6.5kg lost in August; 4.5kg lost in September; 2kg lost in October.

I have 4kg to go until healthy BMI. I definitely feel the weight loss slowing down now.
