Just being nosy, but how long did it take you to lose a stone?

I've just lost my first stone. It's taken 5 weeks.

I started at 12 stone 4lbs and am now 11 stone 4. I'm 5 foot 5 and 59.

I still eat too much chocolate, sadly the urge to stuff it all in hasn't disappeared yet.

I was a month on the low dose which I took about every 5 days as it don't seem to kick in much after a couple of days.

I also took a double dose on week 4. I'm now on 5mg but it seems to stop working after about day 4.

I'm pleased with losing a stone (of course) and I only have another 1stone 7 to lose.

But I'd love to hear how long it's taken everyone else.

Do you think your age (post menopausal) and how overweight you are in the first place make much difference on the speed you lose?

It has also taken me about 4-5 weeks

NoAprilFool · 22/10/2024 10:24

7 weeks

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 22/10/2024 10:26

3 weeks. 57. Started at 16.12. Other than the 5th dose, I take it exactly as prescribed.

VioletsHeart · 22/10/2024 10:35

took me six weeks with same starting weight as you

TurtleNest · 22/10/2024 10:48

About 10 weeks. I'm a slow loser, averaging ~0.6kg loss per week.

I'm early 40s, menopausal (surgical), and petite. I started at around 75kg. (Which is over 30 BMI for my height.) I eat, on average, 1000 calories per day. Aside from the first pen, I've been on MJ 5mg throughout because suppression has remained good.

I suspect the reason my weight loss looks slow in comparison to others is because:

  1. I'm short. Although it seems a long time to lose 1 stone, that is over 10% of my body weight!
  2. I'm menopausal and my HRT is currently badly managed. Hopefully once I get it sorted, that might help.

Six weeks.
12 weeks in and I've now lost just over two stone .
4 x 2.5mg
4 x 5mg
4 x 7.5 mg.
Just had my first 10mg last night.
Good luck.

FreeFreedom · 22/10/2024 10:55

4 weeks.

BetterInColour · 22/10/2024 10:58

Quite a long time, three months or more. I'm a slow loser and deliberately set out to lose slowly as well, taking collagen and eating lots of protein and good foods, I didn't want my body to get used to low calorie intake daily for ever, as that doesn't work for me when I stop. Slow and steady wins the race for me.

I am short though and only just over 30 BMI, so huge gains early on weren't realistic.

BetterInColour · 22/10/2024 10:59

I also eat small amounts of chocolate and nice things, not as many and not in the same quantities, but I decided I'd rather enjoy my new way of eating rather than it be a punishment.

It has been a long haul though and at times a little demotivating, I've kept going nearly a year now.

I'm also being nosy because you are the same height as me and I am 12.2. Did you buy this privately because I assumed I wouldn't be eligible?

ItsAlrightDarling · 22/10/2024 11:04

6 weeks. I didn’t want to lose any quicker (in fact that still felt a little too quick to me) as I wanted to avoid muscle loss and loose skin as much as possible. I’ve counted calories to try and ensure I’m losing 1-2lbs a week throughout.

Antihistamine62 · 22/10/2024 11:06

i lost a stone in my first two weeks. 9lb week one and 5lb week 2. All slowed down last week and lost 2lb

LoserWinner · 22/10/2024 11:07

Six weeks. And the first stone was the hardest!

itwasnevermine · 22/10/2024 11:07

8 days 😅

BetterInColour · 22/10/2024 11:08

@ItsAlrightDarling that's what I've done, although some weeks I didn't lose anything, I plateaued for 6 weeks at one point. I still don't regret doing it this way but at times it's been hard going when not much is changing. There was a tipping point where I suddenly looked much better though and since then the motivation has been higher.

1clavdivs · 22/10/2024 11:20

Yes private. I got a code off here so it was about £113 for the month. One of friends used my code so again got £40 off for this month.

I think the last one and half stone will be the hardest so can't wait to move up a dose. Just wish the chocolate craving would disappear completely!!

@LoserWinner so once the dose went up you found it easier after that first stone?

I think she means: How did you get it prescribed when you were well under BMI of 30?

Wow! I can only hope for something like this. What kind of foods did you eat? Can you share any secrets? Grin

I downloaded the calorie counter app and stuck to 1200 a day. I was not expecting as huge a loss in my first week so was delighted. I was having porridge in the morning (plain with salt & milk) a soup and salad for lunch and a lightish dinner. Always always finish the day with a biscuit lol.
good luck to you! The only thing I’ve found is I’ve been getting a bit packed up. But lactulose helps with that.

Esmejean · 22/10/2024 20:21

I can’t remember tbh, but it’s taken me 10 months to lose 3 stone. On the rate some of you are moving my progress seems slow but it’s been consistent and I’m really happy and feel great. Cholesterol normal, BP normal, no side effects from it.

BetterInColour · 22/10/2024 20:28

@Esmejean it's taken me 11 months to lose just over 2 stone, so you are beating me!

I am a very slow loser than most, OP, so you will probably be faster too.

Whoyoutakingto · 22/10/2024 20:29

I took Two weeks 10lb then 4lb. The next 6 weeks I lost another stone, what you have to remember though is the starting weight I was nearly 16 stone. Last time I lost 2 stone it took a whole year on WW. That was exactly 6 years ago.
