Autoimmune conditions and weightloss injections

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, fibromialga and low thyroid. All medication is at high levels.
I have recently started Rituximab infusions every six months.
I have lost five stone over the last two years but still need to lose another four stone. Does anyone know if I can get these injections or is there a contraindication? My consultant wasn't keen but didn't give a reason other than just carry on eating less.

@researchers3 remember you need a BMI of 30+ for weightloss medication.

How are you feeling now @Mrsredlipstick ? I hope things are improving for you x

Mrsredlipstick · 28/11/2024 09:08

Good morning @Jabtastic
I have been really poorly for two weeks. I'm on my third medical appointment today.
I haven't taken any more WLD since jab three.
How is everything going for you?

I'm really sorry to hear that @Mrsredlipstick 😔 I was hoping your symptoms would have eased off a bit now that you have stopped the medication. Hope things get better for you x

I'm OK thanks fed up with the constipation (intermittent) and reflux (daily!). I took 3.75 last night rather than going straight to 5mg. I'll see if it helps!

Mrsredlipstick · 10/01/2025 09:31

@Jabtastic good morning. How are you?

How has everyone got on with the WLD ?

Sadly I have been back to the hospital this week and I'm waiting for my gallbladder removal. That has to come before my next Rituximab infusion.
I've been ill for over two months.

I'm so sorry you're still ill.

Editing to say I gave up not long after you! I forgot I never wrote it on this thread. I'm still struggling with really severe GERD post jabs the other symptoms have gone thankfully. I have to say I was feeling gall bladder 'niggles' by the time I stopped and seeing your gall bladder issues was one of the reasons I quit at that point.

I think a percentage of the population will be quite badly affected by these jabs and it's not being talked about enough. They really do need much more research as they are rolled out across larger numbers of people. It's another reason why I would like to see it coming under Health service control, rather than businesses. It's the wild west at the minute.

I hope your operation helps 💛 I've joined this thread if you want a relaxed weight loss thread down the line:

Hi there

i have autoimmune conditions which include RA and fibromyalgia. IM anlso coeliac and have DV all the doctors want to give me is more painkillers which knock me out. No good if you have a family and need to function.
I have horrendous leg pains and there is a strong history of heart decease in my family and my mum has had a big stroke. With all of the above I’ve taken matters into my own hands.
I’ve just taken my 3rd jab of 2.5mg of Mounjaro I have to say my pain already has improved. I feel calmer so my anxiety has improved and reading up on the Mounjaro it helps with all auto immune condition amazing results with inflammation which is the cause of so many disease's the benifit out way any side effects got me. My stomach which reacts very easily to most things has been unaffected. I’m over the moon I’ve found something I’ve also lost half a stone so far.
xx

I’ve had fibro for more than 35 years, hypermobility and now have osteoarthritis in pretty much all major joints, and feet, and cervical spondylosis. I’m on week 8 of MJ and my overall pain is so much better. I really hope some scientist is looking into the anti inflammatory effects. I went to Manchester on Saturday, used my blue badge to park centrally but was able to walk round a few shops using only one crutch. Compared with last September on our holiday to Suffolk when we had to buy a wheelchair for me as I couldn’t stand or walk for anything longer than 10 mins. And I’ve not lost enough weight for it to be a factor, the inflammation and pain started reducing almost immediately.

Bodhirae · 24/02/2025 21:31

Great to read this it reassures me that what I’m feeling is right. Thank you
i some countries they are looking into it to help auto immune/inflammatory conditions x
