Mounjaro?

For one reason or another, I am overweight. My BMI is just over 26.
I have a couple of health conditions which make it difficult for me to exercise, and some of the medications I take make me prone to weight gain. My weight has been stable for a long time despite this, although the gain happened when I was first unwell with one of the conditions as I was housebound.
I really hate the shape of my body and being overweight isn't good for my joints (one of my health problems). My goal would be to lose around two stone.
Would I qualify for Mounjaro?
If I would, what tips would you give a newbie?

You wouldn't qualify with that bmi, I think it's over 30 with no medical conditions or over 28 with relevant medical conditions

You may qualify with some health conditions, although they said bmi of 27 and over. Without health conditions, it's bmi of 30 and over.

I suggest you go through the consultation for different providers (someone mentioned Asda accepting them with no health condition and bmi of 29, so you can check them) and explain your health in the box where you can tell them more after answering the questions. Be detailed and honest and i suggest you accept to provide your gp details too. Some providers would probably accept you based on your individual case.

Thanks @ticktock19.
I suspected this but it's a bit of a let down as I can't exercise to any degree other than walking. Also, there isn't a swimming pool near me that's warm enough for that as an alternative, and I have to be very careful walking as I have issues with my back and knees. I'm currently waiting for nerve ablation on my lumbar spine to help with the back pain, but I've been going through that particular system for nearly two years now and still haven't got it.
Would that help me to qualify? (Desperate reply)

I know I've read in Facebook groups and on here that oushk pharmacy have been incredibly helpful when people are near to the bmi limits. I've not used them so can't comment from personal experience but it could be worthwhile completing a consultation with them

X-posted, @CatKitt.
That sounds more hopeful. I certainly have a list of conditions that would help my case, so to speak. I'll get on to investigating and applying I think. Losing the extra weight would help so much. The annoying thing is if I get refused, it's like I need to put on more weight to get accepted which is crazy!
It really jars that I was actually really fit before I became very ill with one of my conditions (ended up taking over eight months off work) - I can't cure myself but know that being less heavy would be really good for my overall health, especially as I now have high blood pressure (being treated), whereas it was always on the lower side before everything went pear-shaped.

You would probably qualify with some including Voy, which offers some extra support. Pm me if you would like a discount for them.

vipersnest1 · 07/10/2024 15:54

@Orangesandlemons77, thank you. I've applied to Asda but need to add my pictures as I'm currently away from home.
If I have no luck with them, I'll DM you. Flowers

No problem, it's the first Voy code on the discount thread on here too. I think Asda might be quite expensive but I am not sure. They use a company called Zava, to fulfil their orders. they are a bit cheaper, directly I understand.

Hope it goes well.

@Orangesandlemons77, I just want to get over the first hurdle and then I'll re-evaluate as I get the impression that once a prescription is in place it's easier.
This isn't a vanity thing as I'm an older, rather life-battered person who wants to have more stamina and less pain in their life. This isn't aimed at you, @Orangesandlemons77 or any PP on this thread, just a general thought in case I get any stray posters who think this is AIBU.
