I started the pen on 24/09 at 13st 13.5

Today I weigh 13st 6.6.

I'm wondering, is this almost all water weight?

I have been discussing with GP friend who says it always certainly is Sad

no…some will be but you’d struggle to drop 7lbs of water weight maybe 2-4 ?
You’ve probably lost 4 lbs or so which is great

stop discussing it with this “friend” and crack on…

I’m over 20kg down one of closest friends hadn’t seen me in 4 months and said NOTHING about the fact I dropped 2-3 dress sizes…some people aren’t supportive/ are jealous / don’t understand weight struggles

@TemuSpecialBuy sorry, that's really crappy of her! Well done on your amazing loss

I am over the moon that I just feel hunger normally without thoughts of food and how nice it is taking up my every thought

it was a bit 😞 but Her head is elsewhere these days / years so I should have expected it

honestly just get your head down and keep going

I’m 7 months in and have another 15kg ish to go
I lose 4-6 lbs a month more like 4….
its a long road even with help

It really isn't obvious to others if you've lost weight, when you're dressed anyway!!

I've lost 5 stone on wegovy and only at this point do people say anything, even though I was seeing big differences after 1-2 stone.

I’ve been on mj since May and dropping about 5lb a month now. It’s slow but healthy.

I mean, even if it is all water weight, it's still real stuff that has left your body. You are still that much lighter and slimmer. Fat cells contain a lot of water so often 'water weight' is from your fat cells reducing. Yes they can refill if you overeat again but you aren't planning on doing that are you?

I promise, once you get to 20, 30, 40 (if you have that much to lose) things start feeling more real. I've very rarely lose more then 20lb myself (twice ever in my life) so that was quite a threshold to cross.

Does it matter if it's water weight or not?

Sure it might be at the beginning but so what - just keep going until you're at a healthy weight and have overhauled your diet and eating habits. Today you are 6lbs down, in a month it might be a stone, in 3 months it might be 2 stone, it will be a combination of water, fat and muscle too - hence being important to watch your protein intake and do some exercise like lifting weights.

You can do this!

I have to say that people never really know what to do when it comes to weight discussion. The consensus seems to be never to talk about someone's weight. Many people seem to get offended when someone mentions their weight. So unless your friends are people you'd normally discuss weight with openly, I'd say to give them the benefit of doubt that they may have noticed but not sure if to mention it for fear of causing offence.

I really don't think it automatically makes someone jealous or unsupportive. I mean have you talked about your weightloss journey with them? If not, then how are they supposed to talk about it with you to support or not?

CatKitt · 06/10/2024 11:22

To the OP, I agree with pp it doesn't matter. As long as you're losing the weight, it's a loss you didn't have before.

I agree with this. I have close friends who don't mention it when I've lost weight but they also don't mention it when I gain (loads of) weight and I love them for it.
