Updates on the NICE Guidance following the August 2024 meeting. The Final Draft Guidance is now anticipated in December 2024 with updates on extending the statutory 3-month funding period. Final recommendations on tirzepatide as a treatment option have been confirmed.

I was just looking atf the NICE Guidance to see where it's up to and noticed documents have been added. The committee's final recommendation on tirzepatide for managing overweight and obesity has been confirmed.
NHS England has requested that NICE vary the funding requirement timeframe as only one ICB felt they could meet the 3 month requirement proposed when surveyed.

I wonder when the actual guidance will be out. Looks promising, however as someone with depression I was disappointed to see there was talk of excluded medications- some of these meds can cause weight gain and it will be a pity of those patients are excluded :-(

What does it mean op they will provide it on the nhs?

I was denied it again today, my icb will only prescribe over BMI 40 with two comorbidities. I worked bloody hard to get to BMI 35 from 42 last year, it's so short sighted.

@Autumnalfun
It means that over a 12 year period, they're going to prescribe to a growing group of morbidly obese/unwell patients, starting with the very heaviest. No plan to prescribe to less obese/no underlying co-morbidities. So, it's at least a recognition of the value of WLM and who knows where it might lead as new drugs are developed, generics introduced, prices fall, etc, but nothing in the short term for those of us at lower bmi and being privately prescribed.

ah thank you. I’m waiting approval for my first dose, I did check with my doctor who said she’d great results with it for diabetes. And thought it was such a shame she couldn’t prescribe, which she felt was due to cost.
