Did you get to a healthy BMI/is that your aim?

I started just under morbidly obese, have lost 2 stone, still got a BMI of 35. According to BMI the top end of my healthy BMI weight is 11 stone! I don't think I've ever been 11 stone and I was a size 8 as a teenage!

Is that really what I need to get down to to be healthy? My primary aim is improve longevity (I am a slightly older mum)

I'm more concerned about waist to height measurement than BMI - i.e. having your waist measurement at less than half of your height. For me, that means a waist measurement under 33 inches.

MJ has already helped me to get my waist to height ratio below 0.6 and my BMI is down by a bit over 2 points, although still obese.

I want both within healthy rather than border line.

I'll try to get waist to hip right too but I have small hips so might never manage that.

I've never quite managed to get there but I really want to. I was 11 stone when I was 11 years old so have been obese since primary school.

Beginning of Covid I was 18 stone, I lost about 5 stone between 2020 and 2022 then put a bit on, then lost a bit, then put a bit on........

In August this year I was 15stone 7lb, currently 14stone 4 lb and aiming for a healthy BMI which at the heaviest end for my height is 11stone 10 lb.

So about 3 stone to lose.

I’ve got down to a BMI of 23.7 so far and to be honest I’m still not ‘slim’… I’ve got a lot of fat round my middle still. I’m a size 10-12 now. I’m aiming to lost another 10lbs which will take me to a BMI of just under 22.
I guess it depends on build/height etc. I’m 5ft5 so not particularly tall, so at 10 stone I’m not massively slim.

That me exactly. I thought 10 stone would be it. Yet there was still the belly/hip fat ring & thighs are flabby. It's hard to know when to stop. I'm 9 stone & there is fat but the face is looking scraggy. The current aim is maintain the 9 stone weight but with the fat changed to muscle.

I am to get to about BMI of 25, which is still overweight (I started at just under 32) but I know from experience it's near impossible for me to maintain my weight at a lower BMI. I am only 5ft ish and the calculators say I should be something like 7.5 stone. I have no desire to be that. I will rest at around 9 st which won't be thin but will be size 10-12 and I'll be happy with that.

I'm mid 40s now, if I lose too much weight my face goes gaunt and wrinkly - I'm not here for that! I'd rather have a slightly podgy tummy and arse and less wrinkles!
