Needle disposal

Getting ready to start this weekend, got my 1st delivery today by medexpress which included a sharps box. I remember a few years back having clexane injections post birth and noone would take my sharps box! What are you all doing with the needles on a weekly basis!?

Feeling excitedly apprehensive to start!!

We already do this as DH has them for his crohn's. We go on the council website and there is something under waste management / bins - look for sharps or medical waste collections.

You book a day, and they collect it very early in the morning, there is no charge.

My local recycling centre will accept them - though I think it'll be several months before my sharps box is anywhere near full!

My sharps box is probably big enough for a years worth of needles so have a bit of time to work it all out.

Our LA website says to take to our local recycling centre

My surgery take them - I rang them and asked as I’ve been on clexane.

RosieFlamingo · 02/10/2024 20:48

We drop our sharp box at the pharmacy, no charge.

Snozzlemaid · 03/10/2024 05:14

Our council will collect here too.
But as others say, it'll be a long time until it's full.

My local council says to put needles in a glass jar or empty milk carton (lids back on!) and then put it in your normal household waste bin.

AmeliaEarache · 03/10/2024 09:32

Our GP surgery takes them.

Borntorunfast · 03/10/2024 09:40

Our local pharmacies take them. Boots definitely do. Ask at your chemist as there are a few who can't, but it's never been a problem for us (diabetic child, so a lot of needles!)
