Interested but confused by costs - can someone explain in simple terms?

I'm starting to look into weight loss injections but I'm very confused by the different options and costs. lots of discounts for new customers but it's hard to understand the real ongoing costs.

Help!

It is a commitment definitely! Several providers offer discount codes for your first order and then give you a referral code. If someone uses your code, you then get a discount e.g. Medexpress offer £40 off for each referral you send their way (hence the proliferation of posts about their codes!!)
Other suppliers offer occasional discount codes for you to use within a time limit.
Many people shop around to take advantage of the first time codes.
You are generally looking at between £120-£200 a month which many of us find covered by reduced food/alcohol bills!

Have a look here and here for regularly updated costs😁

Thanks - that is interesting. Big variations in price!

How long do people stay on the lower dose and how often do you increase? It's hard to work out the actual cost without understanding how often the dose changes..........my head hurts!

The dose changes monthly, but if a low dose is working you don't need to change. I am in 2,5mg which isn't working for me so will be changing to 5mg this month. I'm not aware the different doses are different costs. But if they are, they are. I use Chequp and they don't or haven't offered any discount codes, just a flat price of £149 on subscription

Snozzlemaid · 28/09/2024 10:43

You are supposed to go up a dose every 4 weeks. But if you're losing well or have bad side effects you can stay on the same dose.
So until you take each dose you won't really know and it is therefore difficult to say exactly how much it will cost you.

MounjaroHereICome · 28/09/2024 10:44

The different doses have different cost but some of them cost the same like 2.5mg and 5mg from some providers.

Here's the image of an updated list of registered providers and cost here.

The higher doses, 10mg upwards usually, are often more expensive. It makes sense when you consider that they contain more active ingredient than the lower doses.

I'm currently on 7.5mg which is the third dose level, after being on 2.5 and 5mg. I will try to stay on 7.5mg for as long as it continues to work, as I want to keep the costs down for as long as possible.

LadyInDecline · 28/09/2024 11:10

Thanks everyone, it's making more sense now!

For those of you it's working for - how much weight have you lost on average per month?

OP posts:
MounjaroHereICome · 28/09/2024 11:15

Only just started and I've lost 2kg in week 1. Now on week 2.

SilenceInside · 28/09/2024 11:23

@LadyInDecline what people lose each month can vary hugely. Some people don't lose much at all in the first month, as the 2.5mg dose is not considered a therapeutic amount and is done to get your body used to the drug in your system. It's definitely a long term process. Many people hit plateaus for a couple of weeks or longer.

So for me, I lost 21 pounds in the first 4 weeks, where 9 of that was in the first week. Then I lost 15 pounds in the following 4 weeks, and 15 pounds in the next 4 weeks. I expect that to continue or reduce slightly as my overall weight lowers. I started from a very high weight though, so still have a long way to go.

What's your weight or BMI at the moment @LadyInDecline ?

Doggymummar · 28/09/2024 11:37

Nothing yet, only on week two, just moved from Ozempic where I lost about a stone a month. 52lbs so far

LadyInDecline · 28/09/2024 11:42

@SilenceInside

BMI is 44

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 28/09/2024 11:50

My starting BMI was a touch over 49, in fact, it was basically 50 a couple of weeks before I started Mounjaro, but the shock of realising that meant I managed to lose weight whilst I was making the decision to start Mounjaro and waiting for my first delivery. My BMI is now 41, and I hope to be squeaking under the 40 mark either this week or the next.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 28/09/2024 12:15

I am currently on my third pen of 5mg. I have lost 3 stone in 3 months and a week. Starting bmi was 43.2 and today it is 35.2!!

It is so hard to give anything other than ballpark figures as everyone reacts differently to the medication!

Snozzlemaid · 28/09/2024 13:17

I've been on Mounjaro for 4 months now and lost 3 and a half stone.
My starting BMI was 44 and I'm now down to 36.
If you can afford it, and you meet the requirements to get it prescribed legitimately, go for it.
Everyone seems to react differently with side effects and the speed of loss but it's amazing stuff

I already feel like a different person and I still have a long way to go to a healthy weight.

LionAndEmperor13 · 29/09/2024 10:06

I've been taking it for 3 months and lost 2 stone 8 pounds.
Starting BMI was 33, now down to 27.
Good luck!
