Unexpected benefits of MJ

I realised today that I now actually take a proper lunch break and eat proper food.

Since Covid my job has been 90% at home and pre MJ I had no impulse control over food so would snack a lot and then not make a proper lunch and sit at my desk snacking.

Taking a proper lunch break is benefiting me on many levels.

I am also sure that my wiry chin hairs are less frequent now or is that just wishful thinking….

It seems there are other benefits apart from the weight loss and would be interested to hear more experiences.

I have noticed a reduction in swelling eg. ankles

I'm also feeling quite 'up' with my mental health, have been able to reduce my fluoxetine by half. In a calm, stable way though. I'm even wondering if might be able to come off fluoxetine completely and I have been on that most of my life..

I have noticed a reduction in my pain levels (I have fibromyalgia) and an ankle that has been sore and causing me to limp has improved. I am amazed as this is the first week, also noticing feeling calmer and less anxious.

This is a weird one I wasn't expecting. My whole life I've suffered with dreadful motion sickness. I'm always the one doing the driving unless I'm exhausted as it's miserable to be a passenger.

For the first time in my almost 50 years, it's gone. I'm enjoying letting DP drive me around for a change. Why this should be, I've no idea but I'm taking it.

Not stiff in my joints and muscles any more

Im most surprised that I don’t actually have to diet, I don’t really think much about food. I just eat what I fancy which is protein, vegetables, some fruit and I do still enjoy treats in moderation (rather than binging).

That I can literally only manage 1 glass of wine once a week or so. I enjoy it but impossible to drink a bottle of wine as I occasionally used to drink.

That my skin is glowing without any fancy skin care products. And I have cheekbones! I did not expect to look so much younger and prettier. I thought I’d look haggard in my face and this would be the trade off but I don’t.

I thought id have saggy skin and I don’t.

Sadly I still have PCOS and hair where I don’t want it. In fact I’d say it’s getting worse

Any craving for alcohol has been completed decimated!
And I say that as someone with a history of chronic alcoholism, detoxs etc. I've tried all of the addiction medication, and none of them have worked - until this.

At this point, whilst the weightloss is fantastic, the benefits of not drinking is something that I would definitely bare the £cost of the meds for the rest of my life.

Oh, and +1 for the reduction in chin hair 😁

The lack of interest in wine and sweet stuff is the biggest benefit to me.

I have also lost my aching joints although I’ve put that down to being three stone lighter which is also very likely.

I sleep better

edited to add- my chin hair is no different sadly

I am finding it is saving me a fortune as I had a bad habit of popping to the supermarket for snacks and it doesn’t even cross my mind now. I was mindlessly eating so much more than I admitted to myself. I am finding the cost is worth it and it’s saving me money overall. Bonus !
