Has anyone started Mounjaro on a half dose (1.25)?

Desperate to get started but have things lined up over the next 4 weeks that would prove extremely difficult if I had any of the most common side effects such as nausea and the runs. The 2.5 seems to be basically about getting your body used to the drug, so I was wondering if anyone had halved it for a more gradual intro?

(I have emailed the pharmacy too, but not heard yet and also interested in the anecdotal angle too.)

This is what I was magically hoping for as well, and it didn’t make any difference. It also took a lot of willpower and I did feel as if I was missing out. To then not see any result after over a month, with only a couple of lapses, was really disheartening.

i take it you’re on MJ now then? If so, how’s it going?

Over 3st lost so far, bmi just slipped into the 24's this week so it's going great. Stopping drinking has been a doddle from day 1. Hardest bit has been eating enough.

Before I started to properly look into this as an option I automatically assumed it was an appetite suppressant that could either make you feel jittery or something else unpleasant. The part I now find the most fascinating is how it seems to be an off switch, for even things such as alcohol. I have found quite a few links saying that it may be potentially used in future for addiction therapy which is quite amazing.

because I am quite active I automatically assumed that the majority of my weight was due to drinking. As I have probably said, I may repeat myself because I’m on my phone, my diet is quite reasonable but it is the snacking and alcohol along with the menopause that has made things difficult. Massively cutting down has really happened and it becomes very disheartening because you feel like you are losing out but not for any reason.

I had quite similar stats to you, started early May and slowly worked up to 7.5mg. Now within 2lbs of a healthy BMI for the first time since I was late 20's. A few side effects mainly on 5mg but nothing really problematic. Good luck - this is been a huge success for me!

This is so encouraging! I’m excited

How did you feel after your first shot on 2.5mg??

Cataddicted · 24/01/2025 16:25

I actually still feel quite shabby after two weeks on 2.5mg so am going to decrease to 1.25. I'm losing weight but the symptoms going along with it don't feel great. Rather than stop cold I thought I'd try this first

i saw your post and wondered how it went dropping your dose down. I’m considering the same as week 1 I was fine but week 2 I just feel nauseous and have been sick a couple of times. I don’t want to starve myself and be sick on the medicine and I’d happily have a lower suppression. Thanks

i know I’m late to the party but adding this here anyone else wondering about 1.25 as I was. Work is full on and I have young kids so I really couldn’t afford to suffer the side effects. My starting weight was just over 12 stone. I felt really anxious about the injection- never had to do that before so I put it off and off, then I eventually realised I could inject in my arm/ I found this much easier as I just imagined I was having a jab at the doctors which I’ve done loads of times. First week side effects were very mild - headache, nausea but it was so faint, nothing like as bad a morning sickness, I found it easy to out it out of my mind- but suppression was there- I struggled to eat dinner with the family which I didn’t want. But week 2 was better, settling into a routine and knowing how much to eat during the day and still wanting to sit at the table to eat together. I found the food noise to be gone, but equally could have snacked and did sometimes reach for something, albeit nowhere near as much. I’m now week 4 and that has continued- a nice amount of reduction in food noise but still an ability to enjoy food in small portions. Definitely craved more healthy food rather than carbs or grease. Even though I thought it was bonkers that people talk about injection site, I did it into my stomach this week because of the small bruises on my arms and this week I felt more suppressed. I’ll stay on 1.25 until I feel it doesn’t work anymore, and then go up halfway to 1.8. It’s cheaper this way, it works; I still have to use some (but not much to be fair) willpower.

Should add that in 3.5weeks I have lost 10lbs.

Hi, I hope you’ll see this. I just had my first shot of 1.25mg last night. I am very health anxious and was worried about mental health side effects so decided to start with this dose.
to be honest I’ve been quite hungry today and so far no reduction in food noise. Which days would you have the most reduction in food noise?
I am also feeling a bit jittery.
