What's the difference between rybelsus and the injectables?

Hello,

I ask the above as people seem to favour the injectables over tablet form?

Is the only difference the fact that with rybelsus is daily and the others seem to be weekly? Does one have any benefits over the other in people's experience?

I'm just starting out - I have rybelsus on prescription (type 2 diabetic) and finding the morning nausea really hard. It's not really suppressing my appetite in the way metaformin did or controlling my blood sugar as well (realise this could be because it's new).

I am considering requesting an injectable so I could take it at the weekend and not have to cope with side effects at work.

Any advice gratefully received!

Bumping in the hope of some people's thoughts.

I've taken ry for about 18 months now. It's the same ingredients at ozempic. Stopped working for me so changing to Mounjaro next weekend hopng that will be better. Yes it's daily.

Rybelsus and Ozempic and Wegovy are all the same medication- semaglutide. Rybelsus and Ozempic are for diabetes whereas Wegovy is prescribed for obesity and can be dispensed in higher doses. There is no reason you can’t take Ozempic if you have been prescribed Rybelsus for diabetes. They are the same. The only issue could be that Ozempic has been in short supply. Obviously some people hate the thought of injections so choose Rybelsus.

Many thanks for your replies.

I have a few follow up questions if that's ok?

How did you know the rybelsus has stopped working for you?

Did you find it worked instantly or did it need to build up in your system do you think k?

It stopped because I'm hungry, and I've only lost ten lb in three months. It worked instantly for me. Search Rybelsus there is a thread we started when we started taking it. All are on MJ now

Thanks - I have found and read the thread!

Feels like I might have made the wrong choice!

My dad has been on rybelsus for four months (t2 diabetes) he has been so ill with it, constant nausea, vomiting and diahorrea that is waking him in the early hours of the morning. His nurse has encouraged him to stick with it but he's had enough now, each day he feels unwell, today he could barely lift his legs at the bowling. He has a phone appt with the nurse on the 23rd and he's telling her then that he cannot continue. He's 75 (on Friday) if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your reply - I hope things are settled for your Dad.

I'm going to give 7mg a go and then revisit my queries.

So hard to know what to do for the best.

My DH is type 2 diabetic and recently switched from Rybelsus to Ozempic.

The reason for the change was simply that he was finding it annoying having to taking the tablets first thing and then not eat or drink for 30 mins, and a once a week injection is much simpler. It was easy to request the change at his diabetic nurse review.

Ozempic has resulted in a drastic improvement in his blood sugar levels.

So I think it must be possible to react differently to the tablets and injections even though they should work in the same way.
