I started mounjaro on Tuesday and already this drug is insane.so the good:

I'm surrounded by cake and chocolate and I just don't fancy it. I'm not particularly hungry, eating seems to be a mindful thing where I have to remind myself it's lunchtime. After 20 years of thinking constantly about food and when I'm eating next this is great. I'm so surprised it's having such an effect at such a low dose.
The flip side is I nearly fainted yesterday whilst doing exercise, I'd eaten a banana beforehand, unsure if I'm drinking enough as I just don't feel thirsty. I had stomach pain but no diarrhoea and I just feel a bit miserable.

Long winded way of asking: these effects seem huge for such a low dose, has anyone found that the effects wear off without them noticing. I'm worried I will start snacking thoughtlessly again without realising.

The insane suppression wore of for me after couple of weeks, to something more manageable. I am still <5mg 12 weeks on and have the right balance of suppression and hunger now for me.

Even though you don't feel hungry your body needs energy and hydration for exercise, so perhaps hold back on exercise a bit if you are not able to eat a reasonable amount of calories, or make sure you are hydrated yet. If should ease off soon, but might increase each time you go up a dose too.

I'm 2 weeks in to my first ever pen (2.5mg) and the effects seem to wear off at 5 days. I'm therefore injecting every 6 days and will use the bonus dose for my 5th dose.

I will then get a 5mg pen and try to do a couple of weeks of 3.75mg before jumping up to 5mg. There's lots of info across all of these threads, I'm still learning myself!

It's amazing though. I have ADHD and ASC and for the first time ever, no binging and a quiet mind. It's mad. I imagine this is how I'll feel when I eventually get ADHD meds.

Do drink plenty - small sips very often. And if you can't bear meals then break it down so 3 small ones so you are getting nutrition and enough cals to function.

I don't eat before exercise as I do a lot of mat Pilates so it tends to push food back up. I do take a few nuts and raisins to eat between classes, and I also have coconut water to drink as that will give some fast energy whilst keeping me hydrated.

For me 2,5 is working fine for now and I am on week 6. Sometimes I do feel a bit hungry but it isn't as all consuming as it used to be in the past. Easily manageable. I am loosing weight on this dose for now but already thinking about another order and what should I do. I keep reading comments about suppression wearing off for some people and I am bit worried that if I order my third 2,5 pen and it stops working for me, it will be a waste of money...

Thank you for this thread. I'm considering trying Mounjaro so am looking at people's comments and experiences. Am new to mumsnet so also working that all out!

Has anyone bought it from Superdrug, Asda or Juniper? Any recommendations for either?

Thanks :)

I’ve been on it for 6 months now.

snacking has never returned but I do have an increased appetite the day before I inject

if you are fainting you are not eating enough. Prioritise protein and drinking water

@JugglingOverHere hi! The three pharmacies you mention are some of the most expensive. Have a look on monj.co.uk for price comparisons and have a think about the type of service you want - price? Support? Coaching etc

Search the board for any specific questions and have a look at the pinned post on the long running ‘Continuing Mounjaro’ thread for loads of useful info for new starters.

Op fainting can be low blood sugar, how many cals are you eating a day? And what are you eating?

Thank you so much, I’ll check it out! Very conscious of ensuring I buy from somewhere legitimate also, hopefully this website helps?

Thank you

@JugglingOverHere it does indeed! All pharmacies listed are legitimate and links provided to their Trustpilot reviews and their GPhC registration and reports.

When I first started I was overwhelmed with how much of an effect it had on my appetite, cravings, eating. I couldn't believe I could be near food and just not want to eat it!

I started on 2.5 and in my third month now I'm up to 7. The appetite suppression and craving loss remains the same. I have not craved sugar once, and I mindfully eat what I know I need and nothing more. But for me, the habits start to reappear a little.

So my advice would be to use this initial time to really think about what changes you want to make in your lifestyle and embrace them now. For me, when I say habits, an example would be that I always snacked when I watch films or tv. Not because I was hungry but I realised I just wanted something to do while I watched. Simple change is that I do a crossword book while I'm watching instead - my hands are occupied and I can concentrate on both tv and puzzles.
