Talk to me about injections like I’m a five year old child

I don’t really know anything about the weight loss injections- it’s sort of bypassed me because I wouldn’t be eligible for prescriptions.
however I’m curious now, having seen positive posts on here.

im right at the top end of healthy BMI.
my comfortable weight is about 8 to 10lbs less than I am.
put on half a stone very quickly on HRT and am finding it so hard to shift, but my weight also isn’t going up now.
which makes me think that if I had a quick zap of that half a stone, I can probably maintain my lower weight fairly comfortably.

im 48
thoughts?
thank you

For that I wouldn’t bother and I am taking wegovy.

it suppresses appetite (people often feel ill hence don’t want to eat) you feel full faster (as it slows your digestion)

Real example
I took my regular dose on a Thursday on Sunday I woke at 2am and projectile vomited…. Amongst the vomit was clearly some mushrooms from my meal on Saturday night.

Meaning 24 hours later that food was still in my stomach. 🥴😵‍💫🤢

also expect random vomiting if if you otherwise seems to tolerate it well.

i have over 5 stone to lose… if i had 1/2 /“stone or stone I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole…

Oh okay, thank you, no I don’t really fancy random vomitting…

The quick headline is that you won't be able to get a private prescription for them if you are within the healthy or overweight BMI category. They are not meant for "a quick zap of half a stone". They're for obese patients with a BMI of over 30.

GuestFeatu · 12/09/2024 14:10

You don't fit the criteria and wouldn't be prescribed it without lying to your prescriber about your weight. It's licenced for people with obesity, not people who are a healthy weight and want to lose half a stone!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 12/09/2024 14:40

Okay thanks
as I said I don’t know much about them, hence asking!

It's also licensed for people with a BMI of 27 or over with some medical issues such as high cholesterol, pre- diabetes, or back pain.

They are not an easy way for healthily or slightly overweight people to lose a few pounds.

They are a serious prescription only medication, with unpleasant side effects for many and for people suffering from obesity which is impacting their health and on balance the side effects are outweighed by the benefits to their health.

Lottie Moss Ozempic story hitting the news will hopefully highlight that these drugs are for people that have 30+kg to lose only

Lottie Moss Ozempic story hitting the news will hopefully highlight that these drugs are for people that have 30+kg to lose only

Lottie Moss bought god knows what from God knows who

Moss admitted that a friend helped her obtain the drug, explaining: "It was below board, from a doctor, but it wasn't like you go into a doctor's office and he prescribes it for you, takes your blood pressure, and takes tests, which is what you need when you go on something like Ozempic.”

She also told viewers she got the drug, which requires a prescription, from a friend and not a doctor. "If this is a warning to anyone, please, if you're thinking about doing it, do not take it," Moss, 26, told "Dream On" listeners.

According to Lottie the amount she was given – which she injected in her leg – was appropriate for someone who weighed 100kg or more.

‘I’m in the 50s range. It’s these small things that I wish I had known before taking it,’ she added

Good heavens, you don't need a weight loss jag OP! Just get yourself on a weight loss plan and stick to it - you will be slim by Christmas!! Get yourself down to Slimming World. Couple of pound off each week. Sorted.

JessieLongleg · 14/09/2024 10:41

These injections are not designed for short term weight loss. It's not as simple as injection and just losing weight. I'm on month 3 and lost 17kg. It cost between 130-250 a month private. For your weight loss I would get diet help and start a new activities.

raspberrymeringue · 14/09/2024 10:43

Morning. It’s a valid question and I can see why you would be interested. But it’s not for you, and you wouldn’t be able to legitimately get it prescribed. I had to do a full face photo whilst holding up photo ID ( driving licence/passport) plus a full body photo in tight clothing to show my body shape/size. The prescriber informs your GP. If you obtain it from an illegal source you are basically going to a drug dealer, and goodness knows what you mind end up with.
