What are you meant to do with these when finished with them please? Do they get returned to the provider?

Ask your local council to collect if they provide that service, take to a GP surgery/pharmacy or vets, again IF they accept them

susiedaisy1912 · 08/09/2024 11:04

I'm going to take mine to my local gp surgery when it eventually fills up.

longdistanceclaraclara · 08/09/2024 11:43

Get a needle clipper from Amazon. Throw it in the bin when full. They take 1000 needles. I have a diabetic dog, vet wanted £40 for the sharps bin, pharmacy wouldn't take it.

Council will collect and replace, assuming it has been prescribed.

OneFastDuck · 08/09/2024 11:50

You normally have to pay for removal. Local physio would take ones round here from £5. They have them for accu needles.

caringcarer · 08/09/2024 12:07

I took mine to Lloyds chemist. They accepted it. I just bought a new one and when that fills I will go back to Lloyds pharmacy again.

My local authority provides a free collection service. It's either on line, so you can book a collection that way, or it's a quick phone call. Mine prefer to collect at least 2 bins, yours may be different.

Our local recycling centre has a sharps disposal section.

onfiree · 08/09/2024 23:00

So my council does have a collection scheme in place but they are not currently accepting requests. Bit annoying.

After reading this thread, I found out my council has a collection scheme but they will only let you join it with a GP letter!

I doubt they'll accept it, you should look on your council website and you can register for collection.

neilyoungismyhero · 08/09/2024 23:14

Our council offices have a receptical for them but don't offer a collection service.

You can take them into some pharmacies for disposal

When DH was using them lots, he would take them to his hospital appointment and they would swap for empty ones.
