Hello.

Please can anyone help.

I’ve applied online to Asda (first time to trying it ) and I’ve had a message straight back saying :

I have reviewed your details. Unfortunatelywe are unable to treat you on this occasion as you don’t meet the minimum weight threshold to start this treatment with us (even if you are continuing treatment started elsewhere). Therefore we cannot accept your order and offer you a prescription for this.

I am 5ft 6 and weigh 17 stone 6 BMI 39.4.

am I too fat to have it? Is that the problem ?

what’s the minimum weight ?

thanks

Either you’ve inputted your details wrong or they’ve read it wrong. You’re not too fat. Your bmi needs to be above 30 for it I think

Popsicles2 · 30/08/2024 15:30

I'm the same height as you and was 17 stone 12 when I started MJ. I order through bolt pharmacy, try them.

Good luck

SilenceInside · 30/08/2024 15:30

I think that there's been an error somewhere, whether on their end or maybe you didn't enter your weight or height correctly?

No one is too fat for this drug! I was approved by ASDA with a much higher starting weight and a BMI of almost 50.

I would message them back restating your height, weight and BMI and ask them to check that they have the correct information.

CormorantStrikesBack · 30/08/2024 15:30

Their answer reads like they think you’re too light for it.

AuCo44 · 30/08/2024 15:31

I would have thought you’d qualify.

A friend of mine, similar height and weight as you, got 3 months prescribed by her GP. Maybe that’s worth trying. After 3 months (she lost nearly 4 stone in that time) she was given a gym referral and advised to follow a calorie restricted diet.

SilenceInside · 30/08/2024 15:32

GPs are extremely unlikely to prescribe it unless there are significant other factors at play.

ANiceSliceOfCake · 30/08/2024 15:37

Thanks for all your reply’s. I’m gutted as ive reading all these messages on here for ages and decided today is be day!

i thought it sounded odd. I put im on HRT but the message seems to imply I don’t ’meet The minimum weight threshold ‘

do you think it’s the HRT?

ill try again incase I did my weight wrong.

Sounds like their error. Maybe try Zava as there are discount codes about for 15% off. Or med express with a code for £40 for.

ANiceSliceOfCake · 30/08/2024 15:51

Thank. I’ve tried again to see if I entered anything wrong. Then I’ll see what they say !

ANiceSliceOfCake · 30/08/2024 16:02

Just been approved! Must of been a typo ! Silly me ! Thanks all.

@ANiceSliceOfCake phew! It was so clearly an error somewhere so I'm glad you've got it sorted out now.

You do know you’re talking rubbish, right?

Please link the research to prove this ridiculous statement @Weefreetiffany

I like to think that this can give me the boost i need to get back on track. I want to lose some weight to help me move. I feel to heavy now to even exercise, dragging 17 stone around is hard. I know people put weight on when they stop, but if I can get good habits back again - that’s my goal.

Welcome to the MJ club @ANiceSliceOfCake

Please ignore the naysayers. Well done for taking a important step.

Yes I was watching a YouTube video with a US expert the other day, you need to take this drug with an exercise regime and a diet plan or you will need to stay on it. As if you don't change your body fat burning then you won't maintain the weight loss. She has been using these drug for 10 plus years and said that many can get away with a low maintenance dose but it's a lot of work to come off them altogether and maintain the weight loss.

thursdaymurderclub · 30/08/2024 16:11

maybe its to go with other health conditions? without knowing what you put on your application, its hard to answer.

i do not think for 1 minute its because you are 'too fat'. have you made a mistake on the application process?

try boots online thats where i get mine?

Even if that were true (it's not) if I can afford it I'll stay on it as long as I can. I'll pay to maintain my weight for the rest of my life if I need to. Do you think that's some kind of gotcha?

Tusktusk · 30/08/2024 16:14

Honestly, take no notice @ANiceSliceOfCake

It doesn’t matter what weight loss tools you use, people are in danger of putting it back on. Same is true of slimming world, weight watchers, good old calorie counting - once you stop, the weight creeps on. Some of us just have to watch our weight very closely or it goes up. I have no idea why some people think MJ is somehow worse.

SilenceInside · 30/08/2024 16:14

I don't know what these types who drop onto random threads and make these stupid comments are trying to achieve. Just enjoying being nasty or getting attention perhaps.

this makes no sense. MJ is not a miracle drug that lets you eat whatever you want and lose weight anyway. You only lose weight if you eat a calorie restricted diet. The MJ just makes it quite a bit easier to eat fewer calories.

DappledOliveGroves · 30/08/2024 16:18

To be fair, I'm 7 weeks into being on Mounjaro and cannot realistically see how the weight will stay off once I stop the medication. I'm very much hoping that I can get a maintenance dose for life.

It's all well and good saying that you'll change your habits, but clearly, if that were to work, I'd never have re-gained the weight I lost each time doing Keto, Slimming World etc etc.

Don't get me wrong - I love Mounjaro and I love the weight loss - but I don't doubt that the weight will return if I stop taking it.

Actually Mounjaro has let me eat exactly the same as I was pre Mounjaro but due to increased insulin sensitivity I am now losing weight.

And yet interesting to hear that the weight always went back on with all the other weight loss methods you have used.

So again, why do people pick on MJ? Why do people not post on slimming world or Keto threads saying “You know you’ll put all the weight back on, right”

Sorry @DappledOliveGroves , not having a go at you. Just fed up with people negging those of us who are actually trying to improve our health.
