How did you choose between Wegovy and Mounjaro?

I have an appointment with my GP so hopefully will get some advice, but have been wondering how you chose between the two meds. I've done a lot of research and am finding it hard to decided.

@mondaytosunday You get it through a GPhC registered pharmacy. Prescribed by their pharmacist or doctor either instore or online. It's a private prescription as most can't get it through the nhs.

I would strongly suggest neither. Having lost nearly 6 stone through dietary changes this past 8 months there is no way I'd be taking injections to reduce appetite, unless you're needing the injections due to diabetes of course. Reduce carbs, up water intake and be firm with yourself. I know it'll sound like I haven't got a clue but as someone who tipped the scales at morbidly obese I also considered the injections and weight loss surgery. I chose neither in the end and faced up to my own responsibility for my body. I would suggest you have a proper look at your own diet and take out breads, pastas, anything carb-heavy like that and be clear on your portion sizes as that's somewhere we all get muddled so easily. Good luck. As cliche as it may sound if I can do it then believe me so can you. Would post a before and after pic if it weren't so outing!

I could have written this 4 years ago but menopause has meant that when that weight crept back on I couldn't shift it no matter what I did. I chose mounjaro because of cost and it's added benefits for blood sugar as I have Type 2 diabetes.

For those saying don't bother either GP - I though this was a prescription only drug (both of them)? How do you get it if not through a GP?

Most people pay for it and get it prescribed by a pharmacy. Boots, Asda, Superdrug provide it as well as numerous local and online pharmacies.
I shopped around for each monthly pen to get best price using monj.co,uk which compares the prices for each dose.

I agree that you can do alot just on your own/changing lifestyle....however, shifting that last stone and half to get really slim needs need something extra (like a proven appetite suppressant) in my experience

I went with Mounjaro because the research suggested it was more effective, though we are not talking about an enormous difference. I have been on it for a year and lost over 4 stone. For the last stone, I will be switching to Wegovy due to the price rise for MJ. I think you could lose on either, provided you also stay in a calorie deficit.

I think with the price changes I'd try Wegovy first. As if that's effective it's a lot cheaper now.
