Hello,

Well not quite perfect but I eat such a healthy diet. I track it. 1200- 1400 true calories not gestimated. I don’t cheat. I carb cycle.

I exercise almost daily including pilates, dance, spin and weight training.

I fast 16 hours. I am 10 stone and 5 foot and look best at 8 stone.

I bloody can’t lose any weight. It’s like my body is stuck.

If I don’t over eat already - will this work for me?

You're unlikely to be prescribed it as your BMI is about 27.3, so unless you have a weight related health condition or similar then it's not an option.

Lj8893 · 27/08/2024 17:14

I don’t think you will get it prescribed.

I really do think it needs to only be available for those with medical conditions and/or obesity. (Obesity obviously is a medical condition).

SnacklessWonder · 27/08/2024 17:16

I'd look at what you're eating realistically and track for a while as I am 5ft but to lose weight I have to eat under 1200, so it's likely you're not actually in a deficit.

Oh…okay….thanks everyone

@cherryana. I am 5 foot and in January last year I was 10 stone 6 lbs. I lost half a stone in about 8 weeks without MJ after being stuck for 6 months. This was after 2 consultations with a Personal Trainer. He worked out my maintenance calories were 1370 which is why I couldn't lose weight. I thought I was being perfect at around 1400 calories, high protein, intermittent fasting etc. I followed 1000 cals 5 days a week and 2 days a week on 1370. On those days I did 20 minutes HIT training to boost my metabolism. It worked and I kept it off for about 4 months. I really wanted to get to 9 stone 4 pounds as this is what I got to in lockdown - nothing like your goal but I am 68 and was happy with that weight. It's so hard to get the last bit of weight off..I have yo yo dieted all my life. When i was 21 I was delighted to get down to 7 stone 12 but never maintained this weight. In my 50's I peaked at 14 stone then stayed around 11 stone until lockdown. This July I weighed in at 11 stone after weight gradually crept back on. This time I am doing it with MJ as I am just in the obese category and have an associated health condition. I honestly couldn't face the 1000 calorie regime again without MJ but with it my appetite is suppressed so far..week 1. Best of luck with your weight journey..I have battled mine forever but not giving up.

I am right there with you..so hard to stay under 1200 for the longhaul. My maintenance weight is around 1370/1400 which is very hard too. HIT exercise is meant to help but my motivation is lacking in that department although I am happy to walk 8/10 miles 😊

I’d say walking 8 miles is better anyway - well it is for me!

I’m 5ft 2, lost weight in my 20s then maintained at 9 stone (size 8) for 10 years due to living in a big city and commuting which led to me doing 10-20 thousands steps daily. I’m naturally muscular so anything less than 9 stone people start to express concern btw lol so it’s a very slim weight for me. I ate more than average as well including cakes, white bread etc.

When my lifestyle became sedentary due to WFH and the weight piled back on I tried to replace all the walking with intensive workouts, but found I am less active during the day if I do one intense workout as opposed to just walking frequently at various intervals during the day so it kind of backfires on my activity levels and I was finding the needle barely moved on the scale.

OP I lost weight in my 20s on 1400 calories a day but i think I could eat that much as my lifestyle was so active - loads of walking, gym, dancing in the club until 3am etc. I’m now on 1000-1200 calories and finally starting to lose more weight.

Theredjellybean · 28/08/2024 08:20

I'm very similar.
1100 calories to lose weight, walk dogs, training for a marathon, lift weights, HIIT classes...
Stuck with menopausal weight and now finding that even one day over calories means no loss.
I'm yo yo ING around the same half stone, so going to try MJ.
I also have a generally good diet and a good relationship with food.
But I just don't want to do 1000 calories regime as it makes me start to obsess about food.
I'm hoping MJ will ease this

@sparklywata @redjellybean your messages are so helpful. Will check in on this thread as time goes on. Many people seem to lose weight on more calories than my maintenance calories. A friend, same age, starting weight being my current weight and same height as me, also a serial dieter, has lost the stone I have gained - we have swapped weights! I thought I was alone with this low calorie challenge and lifeling battle so a comfort to know I am not. It's my first week and I have been spending a lot of time on the threads but am trying not to get obsessed. Great to have so much help and information though. I am away for 2 weeks holiday tomorrow but hoping to maintain or lose weight. Good luck everyone!

Azuresky68 · 28/08/2024 09:18

There is another thread for people with lower BMI too

Yeah unfortunately due to my lifestyle and injury I’m not able to walk a lot like I used to, so I need to keep my calories low but each persons body will be different.

Maybe in the future if I can go back to 15k+ steps a day I can increase my calorie allowance again.

I’m 10st 7 now but was 11 stone 7 start of this year. The weight is creeping down slowly but surely. Aiming to lose just over another stone by end of year and I’ll be nearly back to my original weight.

Good luck to you too and enjoy your holiday!

FactyFrances · 28/08/2024 11:58

Hi OP,
Me too! Like you, I was very disciplined already (and wasn't overweight, just a bit above my ideal) but Mounjaro still made a wonderful difference in two ways:

  1. It silences the desire to snack and overeat so it's no longer an effort to eat as little as I was anyway (on a good day). This has freed up so much mental energy!
  2. I'm actually eating less because even my perfectly healthy diet included some excess calories here and there (treats people brought into work, bits of my kids' leftovers, etc).

Btw I don't think buying it online from a private chemist has any impact on NHS provision for those in greater need.

I don't want to spam your thread with a code but shall put mine for Voy on the discount codes thread in case you want to try it. You can always cancel if you don't find it works for you. Good luck! Xx

Theredjellybean · 28/08/2024 12:05

I am so glad to find you all too...I was reading the what eat on MJ thread and despairing as posters were eating waaaaay more than I do normally and still losing loads of weight.
I have ordered my first pen and will start in 12 days time...I'm running a marathon in 11 days so don't want side effects before or during that

SilenceInside · 28/08/2024 12:08

@FactyFrances how did you get Mounjaro prescribed to you from Voy if you were not even overweight, let alone obese with a BMI over 30?

Cherryana · 28/08/2024 14:22

Hi everyone!

Nice to meet you all. Oh the continual disappointment of not losing weight despite your best efforts is so hard. I hope MJ helps you all. I would love to know how it helps you.

@FactyFrances thanks so much for your link. I even bumped my weight up by a few pounds but Voy offered me some
gluccom-can’t spell it tablets for £59. So…I’m not going to love forward with that.

I also wanted MJ because I heard it was good for inflammation and I have a lot of that. Oh well.
