Mounjaro doesn't agree with me/horrid nausea and vomiting - why? Anyone else had this?

I first tried Mounjaro in the spring, and I was ok on 2.5mg, but as soon as I went up to 5mg I kept vomiting. I would have to have a sick bowl next to me at all times, as things would randomly make me throw up. I came off it, and had a few months off it.

I then decided to try 2.5mg another try, and this time just stay on the 2.5mg as I had minimal side effects on that dose last time. Within hours of taking my first dose of 2.5mg again I had horrendous nausea. Any time I think about anything to do with the injection I am nearly sick. I was sat on the train and someone opened up an alcohol wipe which smells like the ones I use when injecting and the smell made me nearly be sick. Even writing this is making me feel ill.

I know it's a common side effect, but has anyone else found that it just doesn't go away, even being on the 2.5mg loading dose?

Is it definitely the real thing? Have you been prescribed it from a legitimate source? I've heard horrible stories about 'fakes'

Ginger root capsules or ginger tea.
If you have been pregnant and had morning sickness... treat it just like that
Also no spicy or fatty foods .
I'm onto dose two of 5mg.
I've not had any side effects.. but my diet has changed a lot.. more salads/ fish/ eggs/ fibre etc.
But l do have type 2.. and l think we have less side effects because of this.

Yes always used the big high street pharmacies as I worried about fakes!

I had terrible nausea first 2 weeks on 5mg. It’s eased now (week 3) I bought cyclizine anti nausea tablets from med express and they really helped.

I know on some of the USA Podcasts I listen to they start their patients on a lower dose than 2.5mg and they still lose weight, they call it microdosing, Dr Tyna is a big proponent. If I were you I would think about halving the dose, or possibly even less and see if that helps. Good luck,

I think op if you have this kind of extreme reaction you should really not take the medicine, try one of the other drugs,

HermioneWeasley · 08/11/2024 07:58

It’s a well known side effect

It helps if you don't eat big meals leading up to the dose. Have a bit of protein shake in the morning or take your dose on an empty stomach. Don't eat anything and when the dose kicks in you won't want to, anyway.

I had this 2 weeks in a row. I’m at 7.5. I’d had no impact on my appetite so I changed injection site from stomach to thigh and that’s when I got the horrendous diarrhoea and vomiting. Not much affect on appetite though. I’ve only lost 9lb in 4 months. Have you tried changing your injection site to see if that makes a difference?

I’ve gone back to stomach injection and, touch wood, no d&v this week. I’m holding out for 10mg having some more effect on me otherwise next month will be my last month on this.
