Was anyone a bit scared to start?

My order for Mounjaro has been approved and it should be with me in the next couple of days. I'm trying to remember that this is a legitimate medication prescribed for other medical conditions but I'm a bit scared!!

Did anyone else feel like this before they started the injections?

So, I took mine yesterday evening. No side effects so far. The only thing I've noticed is that normally I'm ravenous for breakfast but I'm not this morning and I had a really light, early dinner yesterday. Might just be a bit of placebo effect since it's only day 1 week 1. I'm going to eat shortly and see how it goes. Good luck to everyone jabbing today 🤞🤪

Mine is arriving today. Not sure when to start, hoping the needle situation isn't too complicated!

Needle is really easy, it clicks then screws on. And it's tiny, you won't feel it going in.

SevernWonders · 22/08/2024 11:54

What @honkifyalikebeans said 100%

Very straight forward to use the needle ( if it is not then try another one as they can sometimes bend).

Good luck.

I did my first dose last night! Felt a bit nauseous overnight and a bit light headed this morning but feeling better as the day goes on. Was very anxious about the whole thing so I'm glad that I've got the first dose done and not had any serious side effects :)

TidyDancer · 22/08/2024 12:10

I feel like this. I ordered my first one on Sunday and got the dispatch email today. I'm a mixture of excited and nervous but every time I get an email about it I get a spike of nerves again! I know I need to do this but I think like most people it's worrying about the side effects!

Pinkjenny · 22/08/2024 13:27

Well mine is here and in the fridge. Now I'm psyching myself out with people on Instagram and TikTok saying things like TOOK ME FIVE WEEKS TO LOSE A POUND

Just remember it is a medicine and like all medicines everyone will react to it differently. If it doesn't work for you, you can always stop it, but honestly I feel as if it's changed my life. It's not until the food noise disappears that I realised how much time I used to spend thinking of food, either thinking about being hungry or going shopping for food, or cooking it, or if we went away I was constantly planning where to eat or what to eat.
I have two new crafting hobbies since being on the injections and I am sure that this is as a result of having more capacity to think about something else for a change

Pinkjenny · 22/08/2024 13:47

Fingers crossed!

It's in my fridge and has been for two weeks. Monday is the day

I was tempted by all the great success stories on here, but then someone mentioned the nausea was like having Hyperemesis again and I can't put myself through that again. However, you've paid for it now and I guess if it makes you feel rough you can just stop it.

That was me and I'm happy to tell you that after a rocky first few days, it has settled down and no more nausea. I've lost 11lbs and an on week 3 now

NewLifter · 23/08/2024 06:56

Seriously it's doing nothing for you in your fridge, just do it. The sooner you start the sooner you will feel the benefits. You've paid for it now so may as well crack on. You've got this!

Mumof381 · 23/08/2024 23:29

I'm on day 3. Honestly, please don't over think it like I did. Made myself sick with nerves and my only side affect so far is mild heartburn. The needle is so tiny that I didn't actually feel it.

I have really good appetite suppression. I'm counting calories and haven't exceeded 1300, which is realistically half what I usually consume and that's been a challenge today.

I'm really excited for the future. I genuinely believe that this is going to get me to where I need to be, weight wise at least!

Good luck and best of wishes to you all.

Chumpfriend · 23/08/2024 23:39

Just take it and don’t overthink the dieting. It will suppress your appetite so that you can have a few bites of whatever and you’ll feel full. As previous posters have said, it does alter your taste and so you’ll probably feel more drawn to healthy options.

It’s a total game changer and you just have to remember that the weight didn’t go on over a three month period and so it won’t drop off in a similar time frame. Slow and steady will get you there.

I've found that I’m much more able and willing to eat and exercise better now that my weight is in a more acceptable range and I feel better than I have in years.

Tried Ozempic previously and really didn’t like it. MJ has been a revelation.

NoAprilFool · 24/08/2024 07:51

Yep, start tomorrow and very apprehensive. The injection doesn’t bother me too much but I’m really worried about side effects. The thought of being sick at work (I regularly have lengthy meetings) is my main worry.

Finistereoverthere · 24/08/2024 07:58

Sorry to be a Negative Nelly but are any of you worried about what happens when you stop?

honkifyalikebeans · 24/08/2024 08:38

Yeah I'm a bit worried but my health was seriously at risk. My BMI was nearly 40, I had pre diabetes- I just couldn't do it without the meds. I'm seeing it as reset and hoping for the best

Pinkjenny · 24/08/2024 09:20

OK. I've done it. Sitting here waiting for my head to drop off.

OP posts:
noclouds · 24/08/2024 09:50

@Finistereoverthere yes I do worry but like the other poster, I'm 48, my BMI was 37.5 with a family history of diabetes. My DF takes so many medications to control his diabetes, and other associated issues due to his weight, I just think this may be a better solution to address the root cause.

I am fortunate I can afford it but it is a lot of money to keep paying.

OK. I've done it. Sitting here waiting for my head to drop off.

I really hope it doesn't! That could be messy! 😅

Pinkjenny · 24/08/2024 12:02

Head is still attached Wink
