Question about Mounjaro?

Is the only reason Mounjaro works is because it kills your appetite? Or is there something more it does chemically?

It reduces your appetite. That's it.

I’ve not experienced the type of appetite suppression where I can’t face eating food. I can still eat and drink as before but I no longer get cravings where I eat a packet of biscuits or a “sharing” bag of crisps. I think this is due to keeping blood sugar levels more constant. I’ve lost 35lb in 15 weeks so something is working!

Hi, it also slows down your digestion so you feel fuller quicker and for longer and controls your blood sugar levels.

Slowing down digestion and making you feel fuller quicker is how it reduces your appetite. It does reduce blood sugar too, and this leads to appetite reduction too.

Not sure about the science. But I do know it regulates your blood sugar and appetite. It also slows down the transit of food via gastric emptying so keeps you fuller for longer.

I am on week 6. I’ve eaten 2 protein rice cakes today at 3pm with a tiny smear of tuna mayo. I reckon that’s 150 calories, max.

I will force myself to eat more than this tomorrow but will have no desire to do so.

No need to reply to me. I didn’t ask, as I know what it does 🙄 It kills your appetite was not a fully informative answer in my opinion 😉

The food noise has switched off.

You know the bullshit running commentary in your head that's just constant?

"I know I shouldn't eat that donut in the cupboard, I know it's there, no don't think about it, have an apple instead...... no, that donut is still there, MUST HAVE DONUT!!"

Eat the donut

"OMG, I'm so bloody useless at dieting, this is shit, fuck it, pass the crisps"

If any of that sounds familiar, then this may help! My food noise has just been switched off like a light switch! I can't explain it but it's not there! The wine noise has gone too for me!

If you want some science, here's a good thorough overview of what MJ (and other GLP-1 agonists) do: https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/why-does-ozempic-cure-all-diseases

In short - slows digestion; balances blood sugar; tells your body that it's full on a smaller amount of food.
