Sorry for any annoying questions

And thank you to anyone who replies

I am interested as do need to lose weight for my ankle and tho have lost weight on sw it take a long time and gain it back , same as many friends have done once stop sw

One lady I know lost 7st on sw. Looked amazing but gained it all back over couple of years

I get you need to eat healthily but can you have a few treats a week whether sweets crisps chocolate booze or you have to give it all up to work

What the rough cost each month

And that you have all spent so far and how long have you done it

And clicks. I keep reading about clicks
And 15

What does this mean

You jab once a day starting with 2.5 and then go up if weight isn't coming off ?

Is 2.5 the lowest

And obv highest dose is more money ?

And where is best to get it from and most of you have codes which means you can a cheaper pen if someone uses it

Thank you

Mounjaro and Wegovy are the 2 weightloss injectables. They are different because they have 2 different active ingredients (trizepatide vs semaglutide).

Please do not take medical advice from random people on the Internet, and since this is regarding your own health and safety, please do your own research by reading up on it in the manufacturer’s own website (Eli Lilly) and/or on the pages of any of the prescribing pharmacies.

All of these questions have been answered many times over, and there is such a wealth of information out there (and in the threads in here!).

You could get on the medication if you have BMI 30+. It costs you money each month, which varies depending on supplier but you should expect between £120-300 a month. 2.5 mg is the lowest and the starting dose; you need to follow the schedule recommended - minimum 4 weeks per dose, you do not need to increase the dose if you feel it’s working. Yes, it suppresses your appetite, no, it’s not magic. It is a tool that you should use wisely to reshape your eating habits and exercise. You can have a treat, but you will probably notice it doesn’t always feel so good after, and you may find you don’t even crave anything. Don’t worry about clicks and follow the medication guidelines until you are really familiar with it.

As with anything else, if you expect to take it and then stop and just go back to your old ways, the weight will most definitely pile back on. It is super helpful tool but it’s not a magic bullet.

3wDavid · 12/08/2024 20:40

I’ve been on it for 11 weeks now and I’m 2 lbs shy of a 3 stone loss in that time.
Pen-wise, that’s about 3 pens ~ £150 each so around ~£500 spent so far.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/08/2024 20:55

@3wDavid I have googled
A lot and obv will speak to companies

Just also get from the horses mouth as such 😄

As people on these threads it has obv worked for

Depending on your ethnicity, you can get it prescribed for a bmi of 29

"I get you need to eat healthily but can you have a few treats a week whether sweets crisps chocolate booze or you have to give it all up to work: "
You most likely won't want treats, many people including me have to force themselves to actually eat.
I still have a glass of wine. I don't snack, and my portion sizes are roughly a third of what I was eating previously. I could easily just not eat (very low hunger levels), but obviously that's not healthy!

What the rough cost each month
Around £150

And that you have all spent so far and how long have you done it
On my 2nd pen, lost 1 stone 10 llbs

And clicks. I keep reading about clicks
To get a dose out of a pen, you turn the bit at the end, and it clicks. Follow the instructions, and a number 1 will appear in the little window, showing that this is the right dosage. It takes a certain number of clicks to get to that dosage.
But you can choose to take less (or more, I suppose) each time. So if you count the clicks you can tell how much medicine is being dispensed each time.

You jab once a day starting with 2.5 and then go up if weight isn't coming off ?
Yes 2.5mg is the start dose. After 4 weeks you're supposed to go up to 5mg.
2.5 is the lowest and you should always start with this, to get your body used to the drug and to minimise side effects.
You don't necessarily HAVE to increase the dosage.
I'm now on 5mg and intend to stay on this dosage, partly. because it's cheaper than increasing the dosage, partly because it's working really well.

And obv highest dose is more money ?
For my provider, 2.5 and 5mg cost the same. Higher doses cost more.
Other providers may differ.

And where is best to get it from and most of you have codes which means you can a cheaper pen if someone uses it
Lots of codes around on here.
I didn't like the faff, so I used 'Simple Online Pharmacy'. No codes but relatively cheap (£149 per month).

Good luck!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/08/2024 22:32

Thank you @LionAndEmperor13 for all that info. Appreciate it

@wizzywig why does ethnic make a diff ?

Mounjaro is injected once a week not once a day.
Have a thorough read of the main Mounjaro threads to learn all about it.
And read the instructions thoroughly before you inject if you do start.

LionAndEmperor13 · 13/08/2024 08:01

Yes sorry you jab once a week

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/08/2024 09:24

I didn't reliese that it was once a week

So a pen that lasts a month is £150 and used 4 times ish if mounjaro

Other ones mentioned jabbing fault so assumed all were

Thank you

You can use it 5 times rather than 4. (unofficially!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2024 18:23

@LionAndEmperor13 how does that work if 4 doses

Surely be nothing in the 5th prick ?

OP posts:
Snozzlemaid · 15/08/2024 19:33

There is extra in each pen, to allow for priming. But it's usually at least another full dose so some people will use it as a 5th dose.
You either have to do a hard twist on the pen to break the mechanism, as it won't twist after your 4th dose, or buy some insulin syringes and draw the liquid out and inject it that way.
I would highly recommend you read the main Mounjaro threads as there's so much information there that will answer all of your questions.

Papergirl1968 · 15/08/2024 20:43

Oh hello, @Blondeshavemorefun
I know you from your telly addicts threads although I tend to lurk rather than post!
Just a couple of things to be aware of.
You can get mounjaro from the GP if you’re diabetic and have a high BMI.
Some people lose much less weight and more slowly than others. I’ve been on it about three months and only lost half a stone or so (there is a slow losers thread for people like me!) I did have to take a break due to viral gastroenteritis but am back on it now. It does definitely curb your appetite and stops the constant thinking about what to eat next, but I suspect my weight isn’t dropping off because I don’t exercise much and don’t like fruit, veg or most healthy foods.
It has side effects including heartburn and if I eat too much or too close to bedtime I get really bad heartburn which stops me from sleeping and makes me feel sick.
On the whole though I’m glad I am on it although I couldn’t possibly afford to buy the pens so thank goodness I qualify to get them free.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/08/2024 20:49

I did ask my doctor about them a few weeks back but he said no surgery doesn't do them

I have read many of them over the last month or so
