Blood Sugar Levels

I’ve been taking 1.7 wegovy for a while now as over the past year I’ve had a massive appetite change and suddenly want to eat constantly and I can eat so much! Anyway the Wegovy has helped.
My query is I did my bloods on my friends monitor (no eating or drinking for at least 8 hours before) and my blood sugars were 5.4… when I’ve looked into it I’ve had all the below symptoms of being undiagnosed diabetic;
Excessive hunger
Tiredness
Irritated easily
Randomly I’ll just feel so sick like I’m going to throw up
Frequent urination - I go before sleep about three times in the night and as soon as I get up
Visio changes - only slightly and I did go to the opticians and my eyes are fine
Tummy aches which have stopped with Wegovy.

Maybe I’m being dramatic but I’m just wondering if my blood sugars would be much higher if it wasn’t for the wegovy? I had a Grandad who was really poorly with diabetes which is making me worry. I also have a sister with type 2 diabetes.

I have made an appointment with my GP but it’s a four week wait for routine appointments so came on here in the hope someone has some advice.

5.4 is a perfectly normal fasting BG level for a non diabetic.

up to 5.6 is a healthy fasting range.
When you do see your GP ask for a hba1c test which is an indication of your blood sugar levels over the last 3 months and will tell you if you are in healthy, pre diabetic or diabetic range.

it is a very standard blood test and I think you can pay for it privately if you are really worried.

healthy diet and wegovy should bring it down either way

intermittent fasting is also meant to be really good for reducing blood sugar levels

Your family history definitely makes you high risk of developing diabetes. You're doing the right thing in taking wegovy and losing weight, exercise is good too. Hopefully your GP can reassure you though it's impossible to know now what your blood sugars were doing before wegovy.

Hopefully it will help motivate you to maintain the wonderful changes that you have made.
