Mounjaro, yes or no?

In the past 3 years I've put a fair bit of weight on and I've tried dieting, admittedly exercising has been more difficult due to work commitments but I try and walk and keep active where possible. But I can't seem to get anywhere with it 😕

My self esteem has gone and confidence is none existent. I keep reading about Mounjaro and it seems like it really helps 🙏 is it worth it?

My problem is eating is my comfort, I get anxious: I eat. I've had a bad day: I eat. I'm bored: I eat. My BMI is currently 28.8 which to some might not seem bad but its borderline obese.

I'd only want to do it for 2-3 months maximum, just to motivate me and kick start a healthier lifestyle. Is this possible?

Thanks for any help you can provide ❤️

It is totally worth it, but it is currently prescribed for BMI 30+.

Your BMI would need to be 30 or over to be prescribed Mounjaro, or over 27 with a weight related co-morbidity like high blood pressure. So I'm not sure that it would be available to you at the moment?

What's your other plan if you choose not to do mounjaro ?

anon1411 · 09/08/2024 10:51

Oh really 😔

I'm not going to lie I don't know what to do. I'm stuck in a hole at the moment, I want to do better for myself but struggling to find any motivation. I'm so stressed and down all the time that even taking care of myself is effort.

I totally get you, and feel for you. Starting is the hardest thing.

I've only used Mounjaro, so not familiar with other options (I'm sure there are some pills too?) - maybe worth looking into that as a start if they require a lower BMI to be prescribed?

The truth is, if you're looking at any injection/pill as something to kick-start you, use short term, and get off it in 2-3 months, you need to really work on figuring out WHY you're doing it and getting really disciplined with food (calorie deficit) and movement.

These medications work great, but as soon as you stop them, unless you also change/continue with your new healthy habits - you will put the weight back on. It really is that simple. And you won't always be motivated, so you need to be disciplined.

My BMI was 28 but I have chronic back issues (have had several surgeries) and that meant I was accepted by Voy. I've lost a stone in a month on Mounjaro and it's been fantastic. I believe there are other factors that allow a prescription with a BMI under 30, including depression.

My BMI is 28 but I'm also diagnosed with depression and am taking meds for it. The comorbidities aren't limited to diabetes or heart disease for example. I'm using Numan by the way. Good luck with whatever you decide x
