Mounjaro and Orlistst- avoiding the ‘face’

Hi, is it a completely bonkers idea to use Orlistat with Mounjaro? I ordered Orlistat and while that was being processed I came across Mounjaro. Googling it seems okay. Has anyone done it?
I will be starting soon, yikes! I should be nervous but am very excited!
I am big. 5.4 with a bmi of 42. I have a lot to lose and it’s daunting.
We have homemade food, high fibre. Something is going wrong though as I just can’t lose. I dance around the same weight constantly - losing a bit, gaining a bit.
What are you doing to mitigate the gaunt look as much as possible? I see it as a small price to pay but am a bit worried about it. I already take vit d and collagen. Anything else you advise I take or use? Thank you.

A quick google clearly says no, not at all safe to use both!

If you have already ordered Mounjaro you should have told them about the Orlistat.

I started on Orlistat but switched to Mounjaro.
Considering going back to intermittent use of Orlistat when I eventually come off Mounjaro in a couple of months. Definitely would not use together.

In my experience of Mounjaro 'the face' is not an issue! I still 1-2 stone to go and am not remotely gaunt, my face is slimmer and I now only have one chin, but there is nothing about my face to say I've lost too much or too fast. The losses have been very steady 1-2lb a week so nothing dramatic at all.

Don't use Orlistat, it makes you have orange oily fart issues. Stick with the Mounjaro. As for getting a gaunt face, I think us fatties look younger because of our chubby cheeks and when they go, your appearance will change quite dramatically. You wouldn't call a naturally slender woman gaunt, would you? I'm going to rethink my whole look once I've lost the considerable amount of weight I need to lose.

Both from Boots. I think something went wrong with the website because I was only offered Orlistat although I was looking for Monjauro. I only looked again when I read on here it was available. I’m not sure what I googled to think it could be okay! 🤦‍♀️
Will put Orlistat aside for now.

All very good points. I think as well under the guise of concern there are many doom, stay fat, stories.

Big weight loss can definitely make you look gaunt but your face should perk up in 6 to 12 months and anyway this effect happens with bigger losses than 2lb a week.
Some people struggle to accept big appearance changes in their friends be it a new hairstyle or big weight gain or loss. People will have an opinion about your changes, just focus on what you think.

AuCo44 · 08/08/2024 18:12

Also people treat you differently when you go from being plus size to tiny, many hoping you’ll start binge eating and put it all back on again.

Totally agree. People generally I think feel threatened when someone makes a positive personal change.

I think being realistic in your goal weight helps. It's possible to achieve any goal weight on this drug to be honest, but you need to choose a weight that suits you and that you can maintain without being miserable.

I lost a lot of weight before with a slimming club and was under pressure to drop to BMI below 24 and then I could attend for free - but my periods stopped, I was a size 8 (down from a size 24) and absolutely exhausted all the time. I let myself gain a stone (was TTC) and happily maintained that weight for several years including through IVF and a pregnancy.

I only gained weight over the last year due to an injury that prevented exercise and some stressful events that coincided.

The best advice I can offer is to think long and hard about a goal weight and not focus on BMI.

Good luck 💐
