Mounjaro coming off it

Hey, me again haha. I don't find the answer I want to know off google which is straightforward.

  1. How long do people have to take mounjaro for ?
  2. How do they come off it?
  3. Do you regain the weight once you stopped taking it??

I tried saxanda before and lost about a stone but when I came off it I gained it all back rather fast, is mounjaro any different??

Thank you x

From the research I’ve done - it depends on how quickly you lose it. Apparently losing weight very quickly slows your metabolism drastically, and can do for years after the diet.

I guess if you use the time on MJ to get into healthy habits and change the way you eat, then it is possible to keep most of it off.

I have lost very slowly on it, and it is likely I am one of the people it just doesn’t work for - but I don’t regret taking it as during the 4 months I have learnt what I should be eating (more protein/less carbs) and that will help me once I have finished taking it.

There is no reason to ‘titration down’ according to the GP - you just stop and it leaves your system in 2-3 weeks

@Alwaysdarkestjustbeforedawn thank you for your reply. My eating habits are defo one of the main reasons I want to take it, and top one is just my body weight and self confidence and control🤣

I have lost just over a stone in 4 months and have about another half a stone to go to get into a healthy BMI.

I read some of the threads on here where people were losing a stone in 2 weeks etc and I genuinely believed that would be how it went for me. I’ve had good appetite suppression and have not snacked at all in the 4 months.

Having said that, I do feel I have my confidence back, I can fit into clothes much better and feel generally healthier albeit it with the total exhaustion I feel on MJ. It’s been worth the journey and expense and I’m hoping the very slow loss will mean it will be easier to keep off somehow as my body is used to this amount of food after many weeks of eating less.

Id recommend but keep in mind you may not have the huge losses some seem to experience whilst taking it

@Alwaysdarkestjustbeforedawn
I agree with you - I've had a bigger loss, but most of it was within the first few days (obvs a lot of water weight) - literally about a pound a day for the first 10 days.
It's now slowed to about 1 to 2 pounds a week but I'm just happy to be seeing the scales go in the right direction. What was really important for me was to see an initial quick result so it gave me a massive boost. I've been swanning around as if I'm Kate Moss with all the added confidence it's given me 😂

@Alwaysdarkestjustbeforedawn thank you for your reply, it was the same for me while I was on saxenda I seen loads lose so so much weight at the start and expected it to happen to me🤣 so I know for next time now, it's about my eating habits to because I'm awful so it's not just about the weight loss for me either , I wake up at 1-2am and just want to eat loads of junk🤣🤣🤣🤣
