Mounjaro and Alcohol

Hi, I’m thinking about starting WL injections. I’ve tried everything else to no avail. I don’t drink very much maybe a couple of glasses of wine when out and about with friends say every 3 weeks. Can you drink at all on these injections or is it totally a no go? It sounds stupid but I don’t want everyone to know. So it’s not the no drinking it’s the explaining why the no drinking if that makes sense.

Also I’ve had gall stones in the past will this likely be an issue?

thanks

I think the alcohol thing is very varied. A lot of people find they go off it completely, others don't have a problem (unless perhaps they over indulge when the hangovers seem much worse!). I find I can have one or two drinks occasionally but just don't enjoy them as much. Offering to drive I've found gets me out of drinking - and people are so happy that someone else is doing it they don't ask questions! I also just say I'm dieting and alcohol makes me lose my will power around food.
On the gall stones thing, I think there is some suggestion that mj can lead to gallstone issues (as can any rapid weight loss) so not sure if prescribers would see that as a contraindication.

I wouldn't drink alcohol on it at all. I can't find the link right now, but I read a doctor saying just don't. It's an additional risk factor for side effects.

Sorry, I should have been clearer: there is no official recommendation to avoid alcohol. So you could drink occasionally as you've described. You could also tell your friends that you've cut out alcohol as part of your new diet.

Gall stones are listed as a possible side effect, but don't seem to prevent you trying it.

Great, thank you both. Just ordered some scales as I understand I’ll probably have send proof. A little petrified tbh but I need to do something!!

We live fairly rural so being the designated driver will certainly be a good excuse!

I had to send a full body picture but no evidence of my weight.

If you’ve had gall stones previously id err on the side of caution and just switch to tonic water or similar…

Oh ok, thanks. I probably need the scales anyway to hopefully show progress
