From MNHQ - discount codes

Hi everyone,

We're receiving a number of complaints about the high number of discount codes being shared on threads and feel we should clarify our rules surrounding this kind of sharing.

We know that many of you find the codes very useful and so we don't think a ban on sharing is the right approach. We don't allow MNers to post their codes multiple times (we consider this spam) and may suspend the accounts of anyone who joins just to post referral codes.

As this is your board, we'd like to come up with a solution that works best for you. One suggestion is to have one thread here or on the promo codes board and not allow codes elsewhere.

Let us know your thoughts.

Thanks, MNHQ

@BeckyAMumsnet I wondered if the name of the board could be amended to include a ‘no codes allowed’ statement? I know you don’t want a pinned thread as I’ve asked that before but the codes just appear everywhere!

HansHolbein · 23/03/2025 09:28

Why on earth don’t MN want a pinned thread?

Burnserns · 23/03/2025 09:34

Oh please yes to something pinned. A thread, forum name change, Something! I'm sure I report about 10 a day. It's ridiculous. I wish regulations would change. The practice of companies incentivising current customers to convince others to use powerful prescription drugs is astounding.

DarkForces · 23/03/2025 09:54

Completely agree @Burnserns. I use mj and am a huge advocate of it if people want to and meet criteria, but no one should feel they have to pressure others so they get a cheaper pen. Suppliers should charge fair prices.

@HansHolbein I can’t remember the exact wording as it was awhile ago but the email said something along the lines of they are not that keen on them, use them rarely and didn’t see a reason to in this case 🤷‍♀️
