Short-term Weight Loss Injections and Habit Breaking/Making

Hi. I hope this is in the right place - I’ve not posted here before.

I have been considering weight-loss injections for some time, but do not want to be on them long term.

My main driving factor is it’s commonly touted that it takes around three weeks to break a habit and six weeks to form new ones.

So for people (like me) that over eat out of habit (eg. Binge eating, emotional eating etc) - are short term-term weight loss jabs a good idea - to break the habit (and be low risk for putting the weight back on).

Id be grateful if anyone has any positive habit-breaking stories!
Thankyou! X

I believe it’s a long term treatment and the risk of putting weight back on is high, so it might not be suitable for you.

Ultimately what you’re asking for is the willpower to maintain a healthy lifestyle, without bingeing. However I believe the injections just suppress your appetite, making you already feel full. So when you stop taking them, you start to feel hunger again. So the injections aren’t a direct line to give you what you want. You need to actively work against your bad habits once you come off the injections, it’s not as simple as “new habits being formed after 6 weeks”, you’ll have to contend with hunger pangs etc that were suppressed when you started new habits. It’s a different ball game. I’m guessing it’s essentially exactly where you are now, with the same mental blockers you have now, but with less weight to lose.

To be honest things like emotional eating and binge eating are not so much simple habits as a sign of deeper psychological issues. Some providers of the injections do provide coaching and support on an individual basis to help address disordered eating but tend to be more expensive. Weight loss injections are really not a quick fix but can help with changing habits if you put the work in.
