I'm thinking about trying Mounjaro, yeah or nay?

Hi all, I am about 5 stone overweight. I was told last year I was prediabetic but latest blood test has gone down so i'm not now (not sure how). I've always been overweight but this is the heaviest and i'm really feeling it. I like yoga and in some of the postures I find it difficult to breathe due to my weight. I've had really good success with WW in the past and it really works for me but the problem is will power. I got put on Sertraline 8 years ago for PMDD and it has been a miracle drug but it gave me the munchies big time. I decided that it was worth it to be fat and happy rather than suicidal and miserable for 2 weeks of the month. But now I snack all the time and think about food all the time. I am not feeling healthy at all, I sweat a lot and get really puffed out going on walks up hills.

Be honest, do you think Mounjaro would help me? I can afford the injections but don't want to waste money if it won't be suitable. I would love to hear your opinions.

Thanks in advance.

The main thing I hate about the Mounjaro threads is all the bloody codes. Wish they could all stay on one thread.

I absolutely hate that people use threads asking for support to push their codes.

It's predatory.

Agreed.

Happycyclist · 19/07/2024 11:06

@IReallyNeedThisToWork
When you say that Voy is subscription based does that mean that they automatically charge you every 4 weeks and also send out a new pen every 4 weeks?

Hi @ThatHazelDeer, if WW works for you then you can do their new GLP-1 programme for people taking weight loss medication

Thank you for this. I'm a member of WW and didn't know about this (shows how often I access it!). I'd prefer WW as my hubby does it too so it makes it easier

@Happycyclist yes! I have just received my second pen and they took payment on the day it was despatched. I don't have to do anything! I will admit to a slight panic a couple of weeks ago waiting to be notified it was on its way as I am very much a 'one for now and one in the cupboard' girl but it arrived safely the day after dispatch and the day before jab day. Very simple indeed!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 19/07/2024 11:24

@No33 @ThatHazelDeer @ItsAlrightDarling I actually agree with you and I've done it here but I have also given advice and answered questions where I can so I hope that takes the edge off a little?

Whilst very happy with the service from Voy so far, I am definitely having qualms about the codes issue and am looking at other suppliers. I DO like the idea of a subscription but they are all at the more expensive end so I’m slightly going in circles with it😩

@ThatHazelDeer if you have the app go to settings and choose 'health settings' and the option should be there for either living with diabetes or taking GLP-1medication.

I'm also a WW member and haven't used it much, but will try the GLP-1 suggestions as well as tracking on Nutracheck.

I feel the same about the codes, although I do understand that it might be the only way it’s affordable for some. But maybe there needs to be threads just for advice and keep the codes separate so as not to put people off

ThatHazelDeer · 19/07/2024 14:45

Thank you all, just to let you know I've ordered. I've gone with a company that hopefully I continue with long term as I don't want to keep chopping and changing. The process has gone well so far but we'll see how delivery is.

I agree, it makes the board really difficult to use when it is cluttered with codes all over the place.

I wonder if we could ask for a sticky thread for codes and ban codes elsewhere 🤔

Ghilliedu · 19/07/2024 18:09

I’m sure one of the MJ Facebook groups does that, there’s a thread for codes and they remove them as they are used so that everyone gets a chance to have theirs used and get a discount.

to be honest that’s the reason I’ve stayed away from Zava and Voy as I think having to have someone use my code each time would just give me anxiety

Happycyclist · 19/07/2024 18:21

Personally I wouldn't touch either Zava or Voy with a bargepole.
A combination of poor delivery for many people with Voy, huge standard prices with Voy and I just don't believe in the codes and the way that they are being plastered all over the place (and they really get on my wick).

I am convinced that if you use price matching or are prepared to change provider you could get similar or cheaper prices elsewhere.

I would anyway be prepared to pay a bit extra to avoid these companies.

@Kaylz3311 why not read the thread?

It's not allowed

jmino · 06/10/2024 11:25

There already is a thread where people can post codes. Post them there and sort jamming up information threads please! The supposed answering of a query is completely negated when it's turned into a sale opp.

The whole model of discount codes for a prescription medicine is completely flawed but there's no need for individuals to turn it into such a cynical operation.

No, I have been on mounjaro for just over a month and have not lost anything. I actually look bigger then before. Mounjaro is a fraud by an unscrupulous pharmaceutical corporation. I don't think these great reviews are genuine and rather paid employees. My uncle has been on it for 4 months now and lost nothing.

If you have only been on it a month you aren't even on a therapeutic dose so no loss is no surprise really if you understand how this works.

It's a bit rude to suggest that the people posting here aren't genuine but there are formal studies of the efficacy of the drug. You don't get NICE approval without showing that a drug works.

SuperBatFace · 23/10/2024 10:50

@Bobobanter I've lost 5 and a half stone now but the icing on the cake would have been if they'd also paid me to do it! Grin

If you've only done a month you'd still be on 2.5 which is a loading dose to get your body used to the medication and a lot of people don't lose on that amount. Have you worked out your TDEE and made sure you're in a calorie deficit?
