Weight training and injectables

Hi,
is anyone doing weight training alongside injectables?
I’ve been reading the importance of making sure you focus on not losing muscle mass when using these drugs.
I’ve been following Dr Gabrielle Lyon’s advice of making sure that I’m hitting my protein goal (1gram per 1lb of target body weight) She is a specialist in muscle and skeletal health. She’s not anti injectables if they are done in a safe way.
I’ve been lifting heavy for 2-3 days a week. I’m finding it’s going well but I can’t manage too long a session due to the large calorie deficit. I’m hoping it will be enough to be doing short sessions.
i was just wondering how anyone else is getting on?

I'm not in a huge calorie deficit so I'm not particularly worried but I do weight training alongside Mounjaro. I'm not worrying about protein targets either. I'm not sure how anyone could consume that much protein whilst in a huge calorie deficit anyway!

I manage by having two scoops of organic unflavoured whey protein as breakfast with some blueberries as a smoothie, which is 50grams.
It’s then easy to meet target for me.

I am weight training alongside. Well I was already weight training before I started so have continued!
I love lifting. It really clears my head. I’m also having swimming lessons. I can swim already but I’m trying to learn how to swim properly so I can do it for excersise.
This has meant I’m not losing as fast as some people but I know it won’t matter in the long run and I am changing my physique with the weights.
SW 191.6 lbs
CW 184.6 lbs
GW 135-140 lbs
5ft 1in height and that’s being generous 😀

Why does exercise mean you are not losing as fast?

Weight training builds muscle. So I’ll be gaining muscle but losing fat which sometimes means the scales are slower but the body shape is changing which is no problem for me!

You're unlikely to be building much in the way of new muscle when in a calorie deficit. The purpose of the weight training is to maintain the muscle.

Everyone is different but personally I have weight trained at home 3/4 times a week for around 25 minutes and the weights were only 2kg. I have definitely increased my muscle mass considerably. I did no exercise except walking the dog previously and I have read that can help you make big gains as opposed to someone who isn’t new to resistance training. I would recommend weights to anyone considering semaglutide. It provides a long term metabolic advantage as well as adding aesthetic tone to your body as you loose weight. My arms, abdomen and legs have never been so firm and with relatively little effort. I do have spare skin in some areas which is a shame but I am mid 50s so perhaps to be expected.

I’ve always managed to build muscle while in a deficit. I’m not new to weights and lift heavy.
used to power lift.
saying all that I’ve got another body scan in a few weeks so will be able to compare muscle mass on them from the last one. There will be 12 weeks difference in them.

I’m on MJ and lifting as heavy as I can, under the instruction of a PT.
I lifted 100kg RDL as my PB on Monday so feeling pretty good!
I try to get as much protein in as possible, but agree it’s not easy when your appetite is suppressed. I have shakes and protein yoghurts to boost my intake.
I try to have something to eat before I go to the gym, even if I’m not hungry, or I get lightheaded.

I see thanks @Beeble21
