Hi, I'm thinking of starting soon. BMI 36 with 4 stone to lose 😭
I'm most worried about nasty side effects.
I've read about the nausea vommitting diarrhoea etc I'm very worried about the anxiety attacks some people mention.

Is there anything that reduces the chances, ie what and when you eat/ when and where you inject?

Any top tips would be very gratefully received

I'm only on week 1 but have had no side effects. I took my first injection before bed. I take electrolytes in a pint of water first thing along with turmeric, vitD, zinc and magnesium. The vitamins aren't a new thing but the electrolytes are.

I'm also drinking a ton of water - at least 2L per day. Avoiding sugar and fatty foods.

I do have a pretty solid constitution though

3 weeks in, so far so good. No side effects whatsoever. I also take vitamins, electrolytes, loads of water and protein drinks plus psyillium husk for fibre. Go for it.

I was OK as long as I stuck to small portions and low fat. If I ate too much, or too much fat, I had awful stomach cramps.

Most people don't get side effects.

What electrolytes are people taking and where do u buy them?

why?
are they replacing minerals you are not getting?

RoseberrryTopping · 25/06/2024 20:50

9 weeks in and I've not veered from 2.5mg

Plenty of fluids - no need to go mad though - and don't worry about electrolytes. Honestly, most people do not need them unless you're an athlete who loses a lot of fluid through sweating or you have stomach upsets - I've not had one of those yet though.

Eat smaller portions and get active - try and use the jab as a tool to help you stick to healthy eating and nurture good habits

Ive lost nearly 3 stone now - will
Attach my recent before and after.
My BMI was about 36 and is now 29 so I have a way to go still!

  1. small portions
  2. lots of water
  3. stay on the lower doses for as long as possible while you’re still losing
  4. psyllium husks every two days keeps you regular and stops any overflow diarrhoea
  5. eat your fibre and protein first, then carbs.

There’s a good guy called Dr Dan on YouTube who gives great advice.

Don’t worry about the anxiety reports (easier to say than do, I know!) but further studies have shown that there’s no heightened risk of anxiety/depression on Wegovy then in the general population. In fact, there are less incidences of low mood on Wegovy then other non-semaglutide weight loss drugs. That said, if you have a history of acute anxiety or depression you should probably be very aware of how you are feeling in the first month or two.
