I was told I was 'spreading misinformation' on a different thread when I stated that it was easy enough to get weight loss injections online if you lied your way through the questions, and people with eating disorders would easily be able to get hold of them.

I stood corrected because I thought once I got to the payment screen I would just be sent the injections, but was told that no, it would be verified by a doctor, they would communicate with my own GP etc.

I have just been listening to The World at One where an NHS GP describes exactly what I said.

This is such a weird thread.

I cannot believe how many people are so angry about these drugs both existing and being accessible.

This OP is so angry, she's come back for a second round.

What's the motivation? Cause I know they don't really give two shiny shits about people with eating disorders. In the same vein, they aren't out there campaigning to stop alcoholics buying booze. Smokers buying cigarettes etc.

Is it just that they don't want their fat friends/relatives getting thin?

That's true enough. It bothers me because people with a higher clinical need are unable to get the meds.
I was told that I was spreading misinformation.

There is no shortage- anyone with a need can get it (if they can afford it)

If a certain strength is not available for diabetics, then they can always give 2 x 5 for example if they are on 10mg

I think it’s totally because they don’t want their fat friends & relatives getting thin. It’s really fucked up, they feel threatened by the fact that pretty soon there will be far fewer fat people in the world…and therefore more competition for potential partners, jobs etc. Cos everyone knows fat people are discriminated against, whether that’s privately or not. They’re upset that they don’t get to be the only ones to get slim and hot 🤣 if they actually cared they’d be ranting about how easy it is to obtain powerful opiate based painkillers on prescription, that destroy people’s lives.

JustPinkFinch · 15/06/2025 19:42

On a similarly themed thread, one poster did admit (fair play) that she was jealous and angry that others were getting slim 'easily', when she had battled to stay slim her whole life with much difficulty.

I do think that attitude says a lot about her as a person, and requires some self reflection.

That said, I did respect the honesty. Much preferable to all this bullshite about EDs, or 'worries about people with higher clinical needs'.

I do not need to lose weight. I have been treated for an ED. I am a healthy weight now, but very much have the thoughts of someone with an ED.
It is NOT bullshite to have concerns about how WLD may be used by those with EDs. I do know that if someone wants to get them, no amount of checks and regulations will stop them, but it may prevent some people misusing them (in the same way that addictive prescription meds are.

I'm not angry, I just wanted to put the record straight.

You think wrong.
