Are we feeding people enough?

1pm ceremony (hoping guests will think to have brunch before coming?)
2pm-4pm pancakes, waffles, ice creams, teas and coffee food trucks (2 servings of anything each)
6pm-10pm pizza food truck (1 9inch pizza per guest, lots of various toppings)
We will have a wedding cake in the evening
We can also bring crisps, little cakes and snacks like that and do a snack table?
I'm worried it's not enough but we are on a budget. I personally wouldn't need more than that but I don't want people to be hungry obviously so wanted a wider opinion?

The new plan sounds great! We'll done for taking the advice on board, hope you have a truly fab day!

Yissie · 11/04/2022 16:26

We will get a couple of extra salads and sides from the caterer who's doing the buffet and keep them aside for the evening too.

@Yissie

Ok think I've sorted it, found a caterer who can do a cold buffet sandwiches, cold finger food and salads to be served after the ceremony, same time as waffles/pancakes for £386 we can stretch to that

Then pizza in evening

We've got a donut wall and wedding cake too

Will also bring lots of crisps and non chilled snacks and fruit and have available that throughout day.

Is that enough?! Grin

This is much better.
I wouldn't want just sweet and I would be pissed drinking all day only having waffles

I love the festival idea.
Sounds fun

Op

Just wanted to say that I love when people have weddings that reflect themselves. You clearly are giving a lot of thought to your guest experience which is the only real risk of doing things that aren’t traditional.

Have a wonderful day.

BungleandGeorge · 11/04/2022 16:48

Sounds much better, it will be money well spent

TwiggletLover · 11/04/2022 16:59

I've been to a wedding with just pizza and it was a disaster. People has to wait a long time for food as it takes ages to make each pizza, this resulted in everyone getting extremely drunk. Normally with a 1pm ceremony you'd be having a substantial meal around 4/5ish

MintyGreenDream · 11/04/2022 17:26

I went to a wedding on Saturday. No food until 3.5 hours after the ceremony.Everyone was starving and pissed.

Hawkins001 · 11/04/2022 17:27

Have a short turnaround time with the food, and all the best opp

gogohm · 11/04/2022 17:45

@Yissie

With the buffet that sounds great. To keep the cost down, see if you can bring crisps etc yourselves and reduce the cost of the buffet, ditto bagged salad and catering sized coleslaw perhaps. I catered my own wedding just a buffet, you really don't need to feel bad about not having a sit down but these trendy food trucks aren't cheap

Kite22 · 11/04/2022 18:20

Great solution.

I have to admit, the one wedding I really remember is the one where there wasn't enough food, and that was after a really long wait, and everyone was starving. You don't want to be that host.

New plan is much better Smile

KosherDill · 11/04/2022 19:23

Have the ceremony at 1pm followed by champagne and wedding cake (and a festive non-alcoholic options for non-drinkers and kids).

Scratch the sweets trucks. Use that money instead for sandwich trays, charcuterie boards or something else filling with protein. Not everyone likes or eats fish.

I think there should be cheese boards, olives, etc. available throughout if people are drinking. If necessary ask a few close friends to supply.

What are the facilities -- is there running water, loos, etc.? Any kitchen or refrigeration available?

I get the desire for a hippie/festival vibe but sweet carbs are going to have people uncomfortable, esp with drinking. If not downright sick to their stomachs.

Failing all of the above, advise guests that each family should bring a picnic hamper for themselves, or just make the entire thing a group-catered collaboration where people share what they bring. I wouldn't mind that as long as I had advance notice; it beats starving.

Yissie · 13/04/2022 15:20

I spoke to the pizza truck about how I was worried 9 inch isn't big enough and they agreed to do 12 inch for the same price. Win Grin

Excellent 👌 hope you have a fantastic day.

Nnique · 13/04/2022 15:50

Great! Must admit I’d missed the 9 inch size previously...very glad you managed to sort it to have the bigger ones!

It sounds as if you’re going to have a fantastic party atmosphere for your guests to enjoy with you.

NeedleNoodle3 · 13/04/2022 15:53

Great result.
