Are we feeding people enough?

1pm ceremony (hoping guests will think to have brunch before coming?)
2pm-4pm pancakes, waffles, ice creams, teas and coffee food trucks (2 servings of anything each)
6pm-10pm pizza food truck (1 9inch pizza per guest, lots of various toppings)
We will have a wedding cake in the evening
We can also bring crisps, little cakes and snacks like that and do a snack table?
I'm worried it's not enough but we are on a budget. I personally wouldn't need more than that but I don't want people to be hungry obviously so wanted a wider opinion?

@Yissie Great update! Yes I think that will do it :) Have a great day.

Have you seen Nigella's crisp cauldron? I wonder if that's a cheap and easy way to give people snacks? Just fill up a couple of massive buckets/troughs with crisps to help themselves

DockOTheBay · 11/04/2022 13:28

@Yissie

If we had the chippy van there the same time as the waffle van and then pizza in the evening would that be enough food then?
If chips is the only savoury, it will be very busy. Would make more sense to do pizza and chip van at lunchtime, then ice cream and waffles later in the evening at 5pm or something.
rookiemere · 11/04/2022 13:28

That sounds really good OP - well done for taking everyone's comments on board !

I'd also signpost what the food arrangements are in the invite or e-page so people know in advance what to expect and can bring their own snacks etc. if pizza is not for them. Also for elderly or infirm guests who can't stand for long queuing have a system to get their pizza orders in.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/04/2022 13:31

Sounds perfect ,well done! Have a fab day Smile

hellosunshineagainx · 11/04/2022 13:31

@Yissie

Ok think I've sorted it, found a caterer who can do a cold buffet sandwiches, cold finger food and salads to be served after the ceremony, same time as waffles/pancakes for £386 we can stretch to that

Then pizza in evening

We've got a donut wall and wedding cake too

Will also bring lots of crisps and non chilled snacks and fruit and have available that throughout day.

Is that enough?! Grin

Perfect 🤩

@Britneysy

Have you got plans for wasps, flies, bad or hot weather and drinking water? I’d cancel the whole tipi festival vibe and hire a village hall or pub function room. Keep the venue dresser and pizza van and hire a traditional caterer for a buffet in the afternoon and sides to the pizza van in the evening.
@Britneysy That would be well boring and sad to do that! Teepee festival vibe sounds fab. Presumably for that you would want hot weather, no? And what’s the issue re water??
LuckySantangelo35 · 11/04/2022 13:41

@MissMaple82

Sounds like a hungry day to me
@MissMaple82 It’s loads of food!! How much more would you be suggesting?!
toomuchlaundry · 11/04/2022 13:43

@LuckySantangelo35 if you are in a field you are unlikely to have drinking water on tap

@toomuchlaundry
Just get those big bottles of water then, like you can get at Costco then.

HeddaGarbled · 11/04/2022 13:45

Yes to new plan 🙂

Sounds great. I'm intrigued by the "donut wall" never heard of that!
erinaceus · 11/04/2022 13:49

I think the new plan sounds a lot better -- kudos for taking everyone's feedback on board.

I hope that you have a lovely day x.

C25kBecky · 11/04/2022 13:51

I think 1 nine inch pizza and a couple of desserts isn't enough really.

Could you do away with the dessert trucks and offer one more substantial meal instead?

LuckySantangelo35 · 11/04/2022 14:00

@Scarecrow2016

I'd have to leave and get something to eat, especially if the children were with me. I'd ditch the sweet stuff and get savoury food instead. People are going to be starving and go back for multiple pizzas and it will be awful if they're refused. No way near enough food I'm afraid - and unfortunately that's all people will remember of your day.
@Scarecrow2016

People are not going to be “starving”. How ridiculous of you say that. Starving is when someone hasn’t eaten for days and is malnourished. You cannot describe someone who has gone a couple of hours without eating as starving.

And there is no way that the only thing that people remember about a wedding is the food, whether it was to their liking or not. Only really food obsessed people would be like that

WildFlowerBees · 11/04/2022 14:01

A chippy van would go down well alongside your sweetie truck. Kids will love the sweet stuff.

I personally wouldn't eat pancakes or waffles, I'd have breakfast but I couldn't stuff myself just because there would be very little to eat later.

Food at a wedding can be stressful especially when trying to cater for different tastes on a budget.

LuckySantangelo35 · 11/04/2022 14:01

@Britneysy

You could probably scrap the waffle and ice creams now that you have the savoury option in the afternoon. Save yourself a bit of money

Yissie · 11/04/2022 14:06

We aren't in a field we are at a venue just an outdoor venue so we've hired the tipis for the reception as we are in the UK and don't trust the weather. There is plenty of electric and water available and a fully stocked bar Smile

Where is this wedding by the way? 😉

WildFlowerBees · 11/04/2022 14:16

Now you're all sorted, have the most fabulous day, enjoy every moment. WineCake

KosherDill · 11/04/2022 14:19

It's all carbs and no fresh food or protein. Combined with alcohol, I'd feel ill.

toomuchlaundry · 11/04/2022 14:21

@KosherDill the menu has changed

Nnique · 11/04/2022 14:27

@Yissie Brace yourself for page after page of ‘CANCEL THE CHEQUE’...

Katela18 · 11/04/2022 14:29

Just seen your most recent update which is better, but I'd still say you need to do more than just crisps alongside the pizza.

9 inch is a child's portion, can you make up some big bowls of coleslaw, salad, potato salad, pasta etc to go alongside?

We got married last year, ceremony at 1pm followed by canapés, 3 course sit down meal and people were still starving by the time the evening rolled around and smashed the bbq. O don't think a 9 inch pizza will cut it!

LuckySantangelo35 · 11/04/2022 15:41

@aus12

That’s nowhere near enough food. With the timing of your wedding I would expect at least substantial canapés if you weren’t planning a sit-down meal. Why invite people if you can’t afford to feed them? Seems like you spent money on frivolous things like games & tepees & have forgotten the most important part. I went to a wedding last year that had a pizza truck & despite ordering a pizza at 6.30pm we didn’t get it until 10pm. We were starving & actually ordered McDonalds & ate it in the street outside the wedding venue. The dessert trucks are a weird choice. Can you go to Aldi & do a cheap cheese board with meats, dips, breads, salad bits etc. Or even buy sandwich platters pre-made from Costco or Sainsbury’s to have in the afternoon?
@aus12

“You’ve forgotten the most important part”

Wtf?! The food is not the most important part of any wedding!

@KosherDill I’m sure you would manage for a day
