A thread for (over?)optimistic Summer 2021 brides?

Hello all,
I'm hoping I might find my people, I don't want to bore the shit out of my friends and family by constantly talking about it, and fiancé is firmly in the very sensible 'play it by ear don't get too excited' camp, whereas I'm in the 'holy shit let's restart those Pinterest boards and start making ribbon bunting' phase again immediately after the announcement 😂
Our date is July 31st and so I think we're going to almost plan twice: once for a guest list of 30 max and then again for a bigger number if the restrictions really do lift, maybe like 80? (Our original list was 145 so not going to be quite so insane as to think that's happening.)
Is anyone else also resurrecting their plans for this July/August/September onwards?
Anyone up for some wedding chat??

Hey! So we're July 29th but our guest list has always been small. Only 20 invited so I'm thinking it's definitely going to go ahead. But then you just never know, there's still a seed of doubt in the back of my mind.

I think it's really quite likely for you to have 80. How exciting!

We're July 31st and only got 23 coming. We're currently moving house so I can't think about it until then. Luckily everything was planned for last year so not much to do for this year, just bits & bobs to finish.

Hi both! Good that you planned/wanted smaller numbers as presumably you'll both get to go ahead 100%, as long as no mutant strains come along before July 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Are either of you making much yourselves? I'm trying to make everything as I'm a control freak and we're doing a village hall wedding so I'm attempting decorations, flowers, cake, etc etc etc.
I need to remake the invitations with this year's date in them, but I don't know how many to send out 🤷‍♀️
How long do you think I can leave it before sending the invites? Our nearest and dearest know the date anyway, but can I leave it until like April to actually send them do you think? Maybe we'll know how many we're likely to be able to invite by then?

Oh wow, that's so cool that you're making a lot of it. I would love to do that cause I think the personal touch is so lovely. But I'm not crafty at all so it would look rubbish😂

I've been thinking about this too, I'm desperate to send my invites! I think April is a good time but I'll probably get excited and send them this month! If you still don't know numbers by then, I think May is fine too.

Glad I'm not the only one who wants to send things/do things ASAP!
I think you're right, waiting for April is more sensible until I know more about numbers, and yes I think May we'd get away with as well at a push wouldn't we.
I just want to do it all nowwwwww! 😂
Spoke to a dress fitter today and she wants to do my fitting in April so now I'm slightly panicking about that extra few kg I wanted to lose before the day to have the dress fitted properly 😵

Joining although I'm not officially engaged we are considering doing it this year...we have nothing booked so it's possibly the most ridiculous idea in the world but I love the idea of surprising everyone with just sending the invites out and having a big post lockdown wedding. DP thinks everything will be booked and we should just wait but I feel like God loves a trier?!
So really interested to follow along with what everyone else is thinking and at what point do we actually get serious...

I've just postponed my wedding for the second time - from May last year, to May this year, to July. I'm so fed up of the whole thing. We definitely won't be sending out new invites - we'll just update our guests by email. We're hoping for around 70 guests but we'll see...

@Cavagirl I reckon you can only try and see what's available? I think this summer is pretty chock block from having spoken to my vendors, and having tried/failed to book a florist for July. But later in the year you might have more luck?

@MoreGinPlease2020 I totally get it, it's like fatigue and not wanting to get your hopes up. I reckon if you sent invites already an email is totally fine, we never ended up sending ours last year as it was an august date originally. We did send save the dates before this all happened so I've just used Facebook so far to save the new date 😂 classy right?

I actually spoke to a dress alteration/seamstress yesterday and she wants to do a fitting in the middle of April so I'm also now shitting it about the extra half a stone I wanted to lose before the wedding 😵 I didn't realise this stuff all has to be done quite far in advance, my breakfast today has been an apple as a result 😂

@harper30 We're actually using a combination of email and WhatsApp 🤣. But we did send out nice invitations at the end of 2019 - what a lifetime ago!

My dress fitting is now in June. I didn't know I was pregnant the last time I tried it on - by the time I (hopefully) get married my little one will be 9 months old. It's mad.

My first dress fitting is 25th March (unless it gets cancelled). Tried my dress on the other day and it does not fit comfortably!Shockso now I'm exercising and calorie counting.

@MoreGinPlease2020 that's crazy! So much has happened hasn't it, in the meantime. Our first ever date was April 2019 but I got pregnant so we postponed to last summer, then Covid so our third date. It's a running joke in our family that we'll never get married 🤦‍♀️

@Perfectenschlag god same, same and SAME MyFitnessPal has become a large part of my life, I daren't try the dress on at the moment in case it sends me into a panic spiral. It's in a dress bag in the spare wardrobe and it's staying there until as close to that dress fitting as possible 😬

@harper30 Oh I bet in hindsight you wished you'd managed to use one of the earlier dates! 😩

Thankfully my dress is still in the shop as they agreed to keep it stored for me. It felt safer than having it at home. It does mean I've got major anxiety that I won't like it any more as I haven't seen it in over a year. Let alone whether it still fits...

Our wedding is in August , I've booked everything and we are planning for 60 guests. I feel quite optimistic that weddings will be back to a normal level by then.

Have just been talking numbers with fiancé this morning actually, I'm so interested to see what other people are doing. He thinks 60 is the most we should plan for too, but I really want to aim for 80 because sticking to 60 really does mean there won't be people there I really want there.
But then it might be pointless to plan for as many as 80 if the restrictions won't be that far lifted.
It's so difficult, I'm contacting vendors and it's such an unknown 🥴

We are getting married in August and have drawn a line at 50. I am optimistic for 50. Anyone I know looking for more than 50 have postponed. Amazed you know people hoping for 200 Shock

Hi Ladies,
I'm also the 31st July. Postponed from August 2020.
I'm hopeful that we can go ahead as planned. We have 100 invited but have the option to have most of it outside so hoping it will work to our advantage. Have had a nightmare getting new suppliers for our new date which I am seeing as a good thing.

Haven't seem my dress for nearly 2 years so hoping I still like it!!
Fingers crossed for all of us. What a year!!

Ok so I'm getting married in Scotland & 50 is obviously what we are getting. That's tier 0 so even if we go in to tier 0 in July like she hopes I think that's the best we are getting. I'm happy with that though and taking 50 and running. Happy today because I know what's happening now & that's it!

I ordered some shoe clips for the wedding on Etsy and they arrived today and they've gotten me VERY EXCITED and made it feel a tiny bit more real as well 😍

@harper30 I ordered some I do shoe stickers for my wedding sandals from Etsy along with lots of other wedding bits and bobs. OH is being a bit more cautious over the guest list as ideally I would like more than 60. I think things are looking so much more positive than they were.
