Getting wedding dress framed

Hello,

I’m thinking about getting my wedding dress put in a deep picture box to display as I can’t think what else to do with it

Would appreciate any tips and/or details of who you used to do it.

Thanks!

Sell it: buy something you will wear forever like a nice piece of jewellery. Or designer bag

Lovely idea

I had the intent of selling mine as it was £££ but I got tipsy and trashed it on the bouncy castle 😂

Also - those of you who had their dress altered and wear it for different occasions- so impressed that they still fit. I’m 2 stone heavier than my wedding day! 🙈😩

My aunt framed just the train of her dress which she had heavily and exquisitely embroidered white on white. It hung behind their marital bed for a number of years and it looked amazing - like a museum piece.. She then took it out of the frame and sewed it in/ onto a white satin bedspread for their bed.
She died a couple of years ago and my uncle has recently moved it to the spare room as he found the performance of removing it each day to sleep then replacing it each morning was a bit of an unnecessary faff!

Is it a meringue? Is there enough space on the landing to get round it?

FilledSoda · 19/12/2020 17:52

I love this idea.
Is your dress quite ornate?
I got married in a dress from Monsoon , the frame would cost 10 times as much as the dress Grin.
For a beautiful expensive dress though it would be like a piece of art.

goldenharvest · 19/12/2020 18:00

Sounds ghastly. It would be 5+ft high and just look odd. Are you a Kardashian?

SameToo · 19/12/2020 18:04

This is the most gloriously tacky idea I’ve ever heard 😂 Not in a million years!

Bubnomore · 19/12/2020 21:10

Hi,

It has a really ornate bodice, train and trumpet style detailing which has stunning ornate detail. Lots of embellishment in these areas. It was very fitted with a stunning cathedral train. It cost quite a bit, brought it abroad at particular bridal boutique and flew abroad for the fittings and to bring it home.

Check out the beautiful frame company on Instagram they frame wedding dresses. I follow them and they look lovely. Would love to have mine done one day!

Bubnomore · 19/12/2020 23:07

This is exactly the type of thing I had in mind.

I'm in awe that some of you have dressing rooms! i don't even own chairs
@FamilyOfAliens sorry did I say a floating dress mid air would resemble a ghost, my bad I meant to type floating toaster.
Floating toaster Grin made me laugh!

If you have the space why not? Would make a lovely focal point in your bedroom and better than it going dusty hidden away. My wedding dresses are in the loft, love them, can’t part with them and hope one day our children and perhaps future grandchildren might get lots of fun trying them on :)

I found mine in an old duvet cover in a box...I hadn’t seen it for 15 years. So I popped it in the washing machine.Grin
It came out fine so I bought a steel mannequin from Amazon and it’s been displayed in my dressing room ever since!
