Wedding favours Yes or No

Hi all
I was wondering what you think of wedding favours? Are they still a thing? Would you expect them at a wedding?
Also if you did have them what did you have? Also if you were a wedding guest what would you like to receive? Or would you not be bothered.
Thank you x

We once went to a wedding where everyone got a lucky dip for that days lottery.

I'd rather have an extra glass of fizz than a little gift tbh.

My daughter gets married next weekend and she is having test tubes with malt whiskey / gin in them and also the place names are small pots with a seed planted in it, they can drink the shot and take the pot or not we don’t care. I think they are still a thing though in answer to your question.

Good ones I've had over the years:

S'mores (for toasting on the night)
Gin miniature and tonic
Chocolate
Iced biscuits (bride and groom-themed)
A little packet of seeds

For me, it's as much about the thought as the item - something that is a bit different, or reflective of the couple, is always nice.

I also baulk at the idea of an "ice breaker" game. Conversations flow well at weddings.
Don't bother, for the good reasons pp have given above. Jars of stuff or toiletries are just cumbersome, you generally only have a little clutch bag. Just a little bag or box of chocs is fine if you want something.

Not even ‘officially’ engaged yet, though planning on getting married in the next year or so - the one thing definitely decided on is I’ll be making my ‘christmas’ rocky road for favours - I make it every Christmas and give it as gifts and the one year I didn’t I got a lot of complaints and people ask me to bring it for birthdays/ parties etc too. When talking to DP about wedding season and why they get expensive I had to explain to him what favours are, he said ‘oh that sounds easy then you can just make a load of rocky road’.

I tend to do homemade sloe gin or cranberry vodka too, but it would depend on how much 70 x little bottles would cost I guess.

I've been to wedding where they had gingerbread pigs with the guest name on. The other was a painted personalised pebble which was a lovely idea and I still have it

I LOVE favours Blush i even love the sugared almond things.

We had a small wedding but I had my national bird made out of a native wood and the date printed on the bottom. It’s a cute little thing to have on display and many where I’m from would have a collection they could add it to anyway

My friends had personalised loveheart sweets with the date of their wedding on the wrapper! Was a godsend for the heartburn after too many drinks! My other friends had a little bag with a wax melt in x

Eugh I hate lovehearts, just threw out a packet from a friend's wedding two years ago!
I'm planning to get my (F)MIL to make scottish tablet (like fudge) and put it in little bags with a tartan ribbon and a tag saying thank you.
