Walking down the "aisle" music...

I am getting married in a hotel and the venue will be decorated for a winter wedding (lights/candles etc). The "aisle" such as it is is quite short and I am struggling to think of what music to have playing - too traditional doesn't seem quite right but neither does modern?

Any ideas? Confused

I second vitamin string quartet. We had one of our favourite indie songs, but it sounded like (and we told our traditional parents that it was) a piece of classical music. It sounded beautiful but personal to us.

I would have into my arms by nick cave.

I actually had martine mccutcheons perfect moment by accident.

We had Lenny Kravitz ready for love, the perfect choice for us and it always makes me smile.

GriseldaChop · 12/09/2017 22:22

I had the Butterfly Waltz, a piano piece by Brian Crain. I still love having a little listen to it now.

GriseldaChop · 12/09/2017 22:25

We walked back up to Can't take my eyes off you, but waited till the chorus bit, I love you baby started! It felt like forever before it got to the chorus! Grin

Etta James At Last

Tryingthisonefornow · 12/09/2017 22:27

Barcarolle, without the singing though! Loved it! My venue timed wedding parties entrances for upnotes.

Amazed by Lonestar

PenguinDi · 12/09/2017 22:55

I'm having the theme to practical magic, I've wanted it for my wedding from the first time I heard it.

Findingdotty · 12/09/2017 23:01

There are loads of beautiful songs so it's personal choice but regarding the short aisle you can get round this but letting the song play fit for while before you open the doors/walk down the aisle/stairs. It's a lovely moment and have watched a few friends do this. Both songs had decent intros to the songs to build the moment. Also brief the venue to play it running to a certain point that you have arranged before hand. Or just make copy on CD of the track playing and fading at exactly the right moment. I often think the tracks isn't playing long enough when the bride arrives at the top of the aisle. You then say hi, smile, squeeze hands, adjust your veil or flowers. There is no reason the music can't play for a few more bars whilst this happens. Just make sure the venue knows exactly what you want before hand.

We had 'Here Comes The Bride' for my entrance (registry office wedding), we wanted as close to a church as possible.
Signing the register was 'Always' by Atlantic Star.
Walking out was 'A Moment Like This' by Leona Lewis.
First dance was 'Amazed' by Lonestar.

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/09/2017 23:09

We walked in to U2's All I Want Is You but it got cut off midway Angry. Came out to Bowie's Heroes.

Only lasted 2 years, despite being together for 10 when we got married. Been happily and amicably separated/divorced for 7 years, but still friends.

The music did not contribute to the divorce, btw Smile.

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/09/2017 23:10

Second angry face should have been a smile!

Autumnleaves105 · 13/09/2017 00:05

We're having a piper as going to the highlands and having Highland Cathedral, I did want Caledonia but don't like how it sounds on bagpipes.
