When is this wind going to die down?!

We’re going on for a week of sustained easterly winds, about 30km/h all day and gusts of up to 60km/h. Gorgeous sunny days that are hitting 20 degrees air temperature but the wind takes it down to 10, you can’t go to the beach because the sea is just so rough and you can’t walk along the sea front because the waves are constantly breaching the sea wall.

I’m sick of it

Been in my house for 14 years and a beloved lilac tree has blown down, just before it was coming into blossom, never known winds like it, they usually come from the front of my west facing house but so many recently have been from the rear wrecking my garden😡

Windy in suffolk but i love it.

Im in West Yorkshire. Nearly every sunny warm day is spoiled by hideous winds. You can't wear nice clothes, your hair is constantly in your mouth and eyes and the washing just wraps itself around the line. My car and windows are constantly filthy. Im
sick of it too.

Same here. I’m in South West Wales, and its constant. We usually do get a lot of wind but this is ridiculous. Fed up of it.

Really? No wind where I am. Could do with rain, though

I suppose the only benefit for us has been our washing drying fast. If I go out once more and my hair gets in my lipgloss I think I’ll cry

Oh god yes, the wind makes me so cross

TheFormidableMrsC · 30/04/2026 20:40

I’m in Herts and I’d say we’ve had strong winds for a couple of weeks now, even on lovely days. I have to walk across an expanse of park to get to work and I look like I’ve been on a rollercoaster when I get in 😆

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 30/04/2026 20:43

Here in Scottish Borders it is lovely and sunny but the wind is freezing cold 🥶 and there was frost on the grass this morning!
Totally sick of this east wind.

musicalfrog · 30/04/2026 23:35

I hear you OP! It's the one weather you can't really escape, and it has ruined our early spring. Blossom doesn't last and of course the windchill. I feel sorry for the baby birds in their nests getting buffeted around.

Absolutely pointless weather.

TheChosenTwo · Yesterday 06:28

Haha I tried to eat my lunch outside work yesterday and gave up because my hair kept getting whipped into my lip balm 😂😤
it’s infuriating to finally get some lovely sunshine but to not be able to even sit out and eat!

Aloesue · Yesterday 09:09

It is heaven where I am. Full sun, 24 forecast and not a hint of wind. South east

Tcateh · Yesterday 10:34

Devon here.
Went out into garden late last night. It was completely still and very mild, it was so strange compared to what the wind has brought

Bloodybreeze · Yesterday 10:41

Cornwall here and the wind is so annoying!

My son loves it because it means we can listen to Spanish radio on analog radio as the radio waves bounces along the sea 🤣

I just want to wear my hair down and wear a dress. And not have to pick up wheelie bins and plant pots!

Theres a lot of roadworks and construction going on nearby and when it's windy the wind carries the sound. It's a sensory overload nightmare! A bit calmer today, thankfully
