Met Office have named the first storm of the season - named Agnes. The season runs from the 1st September to the end of August. Ironically we didn't have the first storm of the last season until August.

Warnings are out. Note the impact matrix and details. Some uncertainty of track and intensity, but given that it has been named, it has the potential to induce some amber warnings.

Quite stormy here in Cornwall now.

The children at the local school are absolutely screaming with delight as they play outside in it

Fistralstorm · 27/09/2023 14:53

Only an hour later and its really calmed down already!

lostinwales · 27/09/2023 15:17

Currently like the window cleaner has come and is hosing the window down! Gusty and very very wet.

Schools still don't seem to have cancelled DS' rugby match 🙈🌪️

Looks like lots of trees came down in Cork earlier this morning. Had very heavy rain at lunchtime in Dublin and quite gusty, but just got on bus to airport in blazing sunshine. A good day to collect Conlers around Stephen's Green - pavement is littered with them making walking a bit tricky.

Vebrithien · 27/09/2023 16:04

Wind getting very gusty now, we're now in North Somerset (have to travel a bit for DD's music lesson). Little country lanes going back, hoping to get back before it gets any windier.

justasking111 · 27/09/2023 16:47

NW WALES still waiting for the wind it's been sunny with the odd shower. The river and Conwy bay like a millpond an hour ago.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2023 17:12

It's still very windy in Co. Cork with many trees down including one in Cork city centre. The rain was very heavy this morning. I was out in the worst of it and got soaked in the space of five minutes. I think it must have been the squall line as the rain stopped soon afterwards.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2023 17:15

Potentially very dangerous! As far as I know, nobody was hurt.

First squall just went through then the sun came out

BiddyPop · 27/09/2023 18:38

Fuzzy is that Grand Parade/South Mall?

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2023 18:53

Yes Biddy! It's Grand Parade

LadyEloise1 · 27/09/2023 19:37

Very gusty here in Dublin.

BiddyPop · 27/09/2023 19:42

Plane delayed more than an hour in Dublin, felt like I was at sea as last row seats were feeling the gusts tossing us around in an A321. Still raining. But we seem to have just skipped the q of planes backed up for departure slots as we have just pushed back...not arguing!

Fistralstorm · 27/09/2023 19:43

Well I just tried to open my car door and couldn't. Needed DH and DS to pull it as I pushed it open.

It was like 5 mins of super strength wind 😂

BiddyPop · 27/09/2023 19:43

They're only using the 1 short cross runway so reduced operations facing into the wind...any flight radar fans may enjoy the different pattern here today going out over Dun Laoghaire/Bray

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2023 19:50

Safe travels BiddyPop!

Tr1skel1on · 27/09/2023 20:05

Getting really quite windy in the middle of the Irish sea, very gusty winds

Fernticket · 27/09/2023 21:44

Really windy on the England/South Wales border now!!

borntobequiet · 27/09/2023 22:21

Has been getting quite windy over the last two or three hours in SW Midlands.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/09/2023 22:56

Been lovely all day with the odd heavy shower but the guttering has been bouncing around for the past hour with the odd bit of howl between the houses. I think it must be a bit windy out there. E.Midlands.

GloriaSmud · 27/09/2023 23:13

Wind has been increasing here (Leicester) this afternoon and has really picked up this evening. Think we’re in for a noisy night and it’s bin day tomorrow so there might be a few of those going over as well!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/09/2023 23:21

All calm now in Co. Cork.

Tr1skel1on · 27/09/2023 23:24

Also here compared to earlier

CliffsofMohair · 27/09/2023 23:29

Co Clare: My car is covered in leave and tree debris. Think of a Ford Kuga wearing one of those weird woodland gillie suits

BlackeyedSusan · 28/09/2023 13:36

Blustery overnight. Too poorly to look out.

Seems the wind has blown in a van and a truck into the (shared) garden...God knows how Severn Trent got in otherwise!
