Bbc good food encouraging bbqs?

Just had a notification pop up on my phone from bbc good food re bbq food recipes and saying they had it covered etc.

Did anyone else have this? Is that not weird and irresponsible given the current risk of wildfires, supermarkets taking disposable bbqs off the shelves etc? I don't pay for the app so couldn't see what it was actually all about but seems very strange.

Was raining all day yesterday where I live. Today is a bit nicer might have a BBQ. There's a whole lot of space in the UK that's not south of England.

Everybody's garden is tinder-dry and at risk from fire at the moment.

Ours isn’t. Bright green grass still. The water table is really shallow under our gardens - whenever it rains, more than just a bit, and for much of the winter, we have big puddles on the grass.

I'm having a BBQ later. I've removed it from the garden and put it on the drive that has no grass nearby. I wouldn't risk using it in the garden in current conditions. It's got a lid. I wouldn't use a disposable in this weather.

It's not just the south of England that has bans/are about to.

We live no whete near the South East or London.

Actually those saying it is disposable bbqs only shpukd speak to our local fire brigade who are saying none should be used as they are dealing with more fires in peoples gardens due to tinder like conditions.

All it takes is a small amber or spark at the moment.

Our local fire brigade is only talking about disposable BBQs at present. And making sure other BBQs are put out carefully afterwards etc.

We aren't in a drought zone but are only the likely to move to one list.

It isn't just the South of England. Parts of the north now have hosepipe bans.

I live several hundred miles from London

Swathes of the country are affected.

@hotfroth not mine! I have no grass or plants...merely a very large slabbed patio and a brick wall (sounds grim but it's actually very nice!!!) I'm not intending on firing up my gas bbq, but if I wanted to, I'm as sure as I can be that it would be perfectly safe in my garden 🤷‍♀️

A gas barbecue like yours isn't going to be much of a problem, but things like fire pits, chimeneas, and charcoal barbecues can and do cause fires. The embers fly off up in the air and it wouldn't take a lot to cause a conflagration at the moment.
